Digne hasn't been the same since his last couple of injuries. He has done nothing of any note in over half a season and has allegedly thrown his toys out of the pram at the first sign of any criticism. As our vice captain, I believe he should show more fight and determination to get back to his best and set an example for the rest of the squad.

Kendall pissed off Ratcliffe and Sharp early doors, but they proved him wrong and the rest is history. Clearly Digne has no desire to stay and prove Rafael wrong with his performances which is the most disappointing thing for me.

Genuine question. If Rafael was sacked tomorrow, would Digne change his mind?
My guess is it would depend on who came in but if the new manager came in, tried to mend it and was willing to give him a reasonable role for his skills he'd come around.

I'm not sure he's the one acting out tbh. One side gets to talk to the press every week and has an interest in placing the blame on the other.

Digne could quite possibly go on to prove that he's icing for the cake. But we haven't got a cake and that's all I'm saying. Our priorities are elsewhere right now.
I don’t get Benitez. I read somewhere that he basically wants to reward players that want to be there in the team. That all sounds great but I rather reward player that produce. Who cares if they want to be there or not. What matters is if a player makes a difference. Digne is a quality player. One of the best in the team. Let’s face it, all players are selfish. Of course they want to look good. That’s what makes them valuable and that’s how they make their money. I don’t get Benitez mentality. Let’s sell 1 great player so we free up wages to buy 2 shitty players. That was his argument to sell James. Now he has his eyes set on digne. He should be selling 2 shitty players to buy 1 good player. He does not recognize or reward talent. He rather play someone that players really hard but does nothing than to play someone really talented that makes it look easy and maybe doesn’t have to run around like a chicken that lost its head.

Sounds like we need the money in for the books
Thinking objectively, I think it's fair to say this is the case and Digne, for whatever reason, is the player Benitez and Co. have chosen to sell during the window.

Again thinking objectively, it's probably a good deal on paper when you consider his age, form and what we can get in due to the needs of other clubs.

But... I have a feeling that this saga of Digne wanting out has been manipulated by Benitez to make him (Lucas) look like the bad egg or an unsettling influence.

This, I don't think is the case. While Digne hasn't been excelling recently, I'll be disappointed to see him go and more so if Benitez has forced him out.

Digne's "ego" was to point out how to get more out of him after we'd lost 7 on the bounce (I think).

Since Digne was dropped for being the bad apple...results haven't improved.

So if results didn't improve with or without him... who else can he blame?
Process of elimination. So what we should do now, is try a game without Benitez there, and with digne playing. When we win that game, then that’s the answer.

£110k pw wages.

Manager: "will you play tomorrow?"

Digne: "Non"

FFS, and there's supporters who side with the player.

Obscene.
