Not to be negative or a moaner in any way, but I do think this lad is completely overrated by some blues. He scored a couple of beauts in his first season and has played a part in a number of goals over the last 3 years. However I think he is a bit of a weak link defensively. Not strong in the air, distribution and passing in general is often sloppy. Mentally he is weak. Seems to get flustered very easily and becomes petulant with any run ins with opponents. As mentioned previously his set pieces (which were clearly his strongest asset) have been poor since his debut season. So many over hit corners or sometimes not even clearing the first man etc. He will no doubt come out of this current funk, but I think we should be shopping around for a long term replacement back up. Not a patch on Leighton Baines this fella.

We're doing mentally weak for Digne now????

Anyway don't really agree with any of that. I know people don't like stats but you're getting them anyway: he's been in the top 10% of fullbacks for aerial win % since joining us. He's not the best against people dribbling at him but he's also never been terrible. His bad periods are still average. And the passing stuff is just complete rubbish.

The only thing I'd go for is his set plays are off but they also are not his strongest asset. He's one of our few truly good players in open play.

Yep. We are winning games and people still slagging off Digne for no reason. I’m fine with this switch of not playing through him- we don’t create enough space for him to operate anyway. Last year he was always man marked. This year he is allowed to play simply and not run himself into the ground against thankless odds. Good one Rafael

He's consistently above average and sometimes excellent.

The biggest complement I can give him is that I don't miss Baines a whole lot - he's been a great replacement.
The thing that will always hurt him is he isn’t rapid enough to really create for himself. He is a great player, but he actually needs some help. Wish he was rapid, but if he was there is no way in hell he would be at Everton.

Was still very good yesterday.
