From the Athletic.

"After every Everton game, Lucas Digne receives a report from a France national team analyst breaking down his key numbers".

Benitez asking him not to get forward so much, will dent his stats and therefore not look good to the French national team analysts.
Seems like he's more interested in his stats that will impress the National team with his stats than following the managers instructions.
I’ll save them a job 0 goals, 0 assists….

….I actually thought Benitez looked a little isolated and there wasn’t much warmth or sincerity in the greetings. It felt a little uneasy that he celebrated victory with the players but didn’t join then in defeat at Brentford.

Coleman said afterwards there are problems off the pitch, I doubt any of us know what he was referring to.
Well, Benitez is not the most player-friendly manager, but he cant be hugging players in this pandemic. He has to take the responsible lead.

I saw him and them shake hands warmly.

Incredible that anyone could have missed the camararderie on display. Only people looking for trouble needlessly would doubt the unity.

How did it end up the last time a Spanish manager tried to wage war against our left back?

I can't remember. Which one is still at the club @davek ?
Brings a tear to my eye remembering that - a beautiful execution from Leighton Baines.

No posturing or big emotional statements - just got up and said one word 'chemistry' and it was over. Hit the road Roberto our left back just fired you.

Wow. I think you've talked yourself into a new job with the French national team.
Thanks. Having never been born there, I’m sure, there is another way I could be considered that I never before thought possible… I like Digne, he’s quality when he’s on it and only someone with a personal grudge would think it beneficial to what Evertonian’s are striving for collectively to see Digne struggle. He is much better going forward, so much so that he’s in the France national squad, he is positive and frustrated. He has given away some costly fouls this season and not been involved directly while Everton have scored, a stark contrast to last season even when a constrictive strategy from Ancelotti yielded both goals and assists. The handbrake is on and I’d be pissed off as a player too.
(This is a work of fiction. Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events, is purely coincidental)
Ta love

The thing is to have a stronger manager he cant be one of the lads, he has to be the boss, it's a way gain respect.
Like his celebration after the winning goal, professional, no histrionics, it's what we need.

That's not surprising if true.

I think there is a preference to have more defensive fullbacks and Digne is just not defensively great. And we are defending a lot since last season....Digne is an classic attacking full back and not utilising his strength is a shame. But at the same time, the numbers aren't backing him up when he does attack.

I mean there are just players who just doesn't fit. As much as I love Digne and want Digne to stay...Digne just have to do better defensively.

Digne will go, DCL will go, Richy will go. Squad will be left to flounder in the Championship.

I have got used to fearing the worst but when he said we have to sell players at profit, these are the only options really. Richy is definitely playing for us and for himself, which are not incompatible, so good for him if he gets a good move for his career. Same with DCL - had good opportunity here, but also gave back a lot by training hard and working really hard. I can't imagine many players, apart from Maybe Davies cos he loves the club and nobody else will buy him, Keane, Coleman, Delph, Townsend...players nobody else will really buy maybe, who really will stay around this s888show of a club at the moment. Everyone else has got nothing binding them emotionally here, especially now. Never been more depressed and I'm usually super optimistic.

Don’t recall any players questioning ancelotti’s tactics when we had 2 bad spells last season with 1 win in 7 games and another run of 6 games without a win. People forget ancelotti is in the record books for our worst ever home record of all time. We went over 2 1/2 months without a home win in the league.
lack of a home crowd meant less scrutiny

im guessing:
On going police investigations to a 32 year old player
Digne argument with mamager
brands leaving the club
FFP causing transfers to stall

…I think they are the likely causes of the problems but we don’t know the extent of the issues.

For example, I assume Digne is popular amongst a lot of the squad, they will be talking about this conflict amongst themselves and how it’s been handled. They will take sides, I have no doubt about that. Generally most will be content if they are being selected but it will not be a pleasant atmosphere.

All the time I’m reminded of what Carragher said; Benitez seeks and thrives on confrontation.
