Transfer Rumour Luis Diaz

More bad news by the looks of it. Strongly suspect this is the classic Everton phantom bid territory so we don't lose our minds at a deadline day loan for Dan James and frantic bid for Lingard.

Doesn't look like they ever really had any planning in place and, if not a phantom bid, the club are just chancing their arm at the end of the window.Screenshot_20210829-005525_Twitter.jpgScreenshot_20210829-005543_Twitter.webp

Good ol' Pipe.
Though he isn't actually claiming anything new about the move, in fact adds this:

Of course, that is possible. But unless he's on the early morning to Bogota, timing-wise if he has to get everything done and do his duties with Colombia, surely it will be nigh on impossible to get it all done in time?

It's not like he's flying to Germany. Plus, we don't want to put any more pressure on the world's last remaining fax machine!!

As Pipe explained, they can submit the deal pending medical prior to the deadline. That happens all the time.

The big risk is Lucho picking up a knock in these three qualifiers. Oh... And do you all allow medicals in the famous quarantine Heathrow Travelodge? (jK)

In hindsight - Eintracht Frankfurt conducted Rafael Santos Borré's medical at Colombia's Copa America training base in Brasil, so if a deal is struck, Everton could definitely do the same in La Paz (where Colombia play their first match) or back in Barranquilla (and the medical team could even enjoy a nice vacation at the beach before returning to stay in the Heathrow Travelodge).

I’d be doing the same thing if I was Porto. Time is leverage, wait until Tuesday and try and get an increase to the fee.
Will be a disaster if we can’t ship James though. Massive waste if he is stuck on the bench here.

Yes. The news here is that Porto wants to negotiate a separate loan or transfer for James rather than include as a makeweight in the deal - that had been expressed as a preference in the Press but they've now responded to a formal bid as well.

My guess is that they, like Milan, think Everton under Benitez has no intention of playing James and will eventually just let him go before the deadline to get his wages off their books.

Still think talks will go on is never easy with clubs over ther seem to mess about during transfer talks. Still really hope we can pull it off
Apparently some Colombian journalists on Instagram. Was saying on his story. his team mates were messaging him to stay.

Maybe we’ve agreed with the player and the agent, but his club are playing hardball. Trying to be positive, usually in that situation it gets done. If the agent really pushes the club that the player wants to leave. You’d also imagine he would be getting a big pay rise, going to the best league in the world. A Colombian teammate at the club. Why wouldn’t he want to join
