Lukaku - A Fond Farewell

I don't think it's too much to ask for respect mate.

I don't care if he scores and cartwheels to the half way line, I really don't. However, gesturing to our fans is not banter, it's un-necessary goading.

I hope his welcome is warm at Goodison :)

Did it personally hurt your feelings?
Stop the press - 'Multi Millionaire Footballer With Limited Affinity To Previous Employees Tells Fans To Shush'

If that's goading, then we really are in a PC era of football.

You don't fool me lad, you'd have laughed under those circumstances !

He'll win stuff at ManU and good luck to him. He's a pro who wants to play at the highest level which we couldn't give him, but he didn't have to rub peoples noses in it. I can understand why he did it like, but reserve the right to think Rom the man isn't as classy as Rom the footballer.

I don't think that is fair. As a man he's okay. He does plenty of charitable work (for children with cancer and similar) and stuff like that; he is one of the easier ones in the Belgian team concerning his image rights (the easiest one is Hazard) negotiation saga, he doesn't care about the money he just wants to win stuff. He's always willing to give interviews and always says what he's thinking; might anger people but at least he's not lying.

For me class outside of the football pitch is more than following customs concerning what is socially acceptable on a football pitch or in interviews. It's being an individual that affirms other individuals and validates their beingness.

What happened today was just a case of action-reaction. I am not saying I support it but I can understand it. On top of that you have all the abuse of him on social media, sometimes with racial undertones. Might get to you from time to time. Even though you say different, like he does.

Didn't see Lineker myself but agree he'll be close to world class. Just wish we'd finally get to a stage where either owners dont sell off our stars or better where they dont want to leave.

Today was a sore one seeing him help put us to the cleaners. But we all had a fair idea it was coming so chin up move on. 2 wins needed this week.

Tim, there's a massive difference from selling an Arteta or a Pienaar to fund transfers than trying keep hold of Lukaku.

The "keeping our heat stars" shout doesn't wash because he is an elite snake in the grass. It's a different ballgame when your in that league.

And people this summer will use the Coutinho and Sanchez as an example; which is true, but also our stance last year. Those 2, like Lukaku, will not be at those clubs next summer.

Even teams like Spurs, who we aspire to copy, won't have a cars and hells chance if someone shows real interest in Kane, Alli or Eriksen. Kyle Walker being an example.

There's a hierarchy in football unfortunately, and we're a good couple of tiers down and the only way to get up the ladder is by an oil rich shiek turning up who will burn through money for fun.

Other than that it's a long game of commercial building, reputation pushing etc etc a model that was so successfully implemented by Utd just before the PL kicked off.

The cry arsing over Lukaku needs to stop, yes he had another 2 years on the contact but who says he wasn't prepared to go on strike, or his agent making future dealings with players difficult, or maybe Everton just acted professionally and kept a gentlemans agreement. It's a mine field that we will never know.

The facts are he wanted a move he got it. Over the 4 years he did a marvellous job that he was paid to do. But he is, and always will be, a fork tongued reptilian Texan who seen us as nothing more than a springboard to promote his own agenda

Standard. Pops up with goals when the game is already put to bed. Anyone could score goals for them. Never be world class except in his own head.
He got a load of stick for his crap free kick from our fans then popped up on the back post totally unmarked to score he just gave our fans stick back - immaterial we were well beaten by then!

He is all those things you say he is. But despite that, I miss seeing him playing in royal blue and miss his goals and the enjoyment they brought massively.

And on the commercial side, I don't think the current board have a clue how to do it properly and there's not a chance of us getting the investment that will truly make the difference unless Moshiri is bought out.

Everyone misses him, the same way we missed Lineker, Beardsley, Kanchelskis and many many more. He was a world class striker, but he wanted out and he was going no matter what.

And with regards to the board, we have different views on that. You want the oil sheik to drown you in his wods of cash, but that's not happening until the books look healthy and the stadium is built, and both are on course imo
