Lukaku - A Fond Farewell

I don't think that is fair. As a man he's okay. He does plenty of charitable work (for children with cancer and similar) and stuff like that; he is one of the easier ones in the Belgian team concerning his image rights (the easiest one is Hazard) negotiation saga, he doesn't care about the money he just wants to win stuff. He's always willing to give interviews and always says what he's thinking; might anger people but at least he's not lying.

For me class outside of the football pitch is more than following customs concerning what is socially acceptable on a football pitch or in interviews. It's being an individual that affirms other individuals and validates their beingness.

What happened today was just a case of action-reaction. I am not saying I support it but I can understand it. On top of that you have all the abuse of him on social media, sometimes with racial undertones. Might get to you from time to time. Even though you say different, like he does.

Funnily enough I thought about some of the stuff you mentioned when I typed my post. Rom undoubtedly does a lot of good things and I don't doubt he's a decent bloke, he's also very intelligent, more so than your average player and it's the fact that he is intelligent which makes his actions today a bit disappointing, but I won't be losing any sleep over ut.

He could quite easily have been the bigger man and rode above the odd boo, but he chose not to. I suspect he did it in the heat of the moment and may even regret it a bit, but he can't undo it now so it'll stick with him.

I don't really do twitter mate, because it's very much a reflection of the lowest common denominator of the human race, but I can imagine some of the stuff he gets from the scum on there ain't too nice, and I've heard him called Lazy and Chalky in the same sentence by an Evertonian at a match so I don't doubt some of the abuse he gets has a racial undertone, but I think it's mainly in the minority.

I hope he goes on and has a successful career but can't really warm to him as a person.

Just read on Twitter our fans were making monkey noises and gestures?:oops::confused:

Hope it's not true but as we sadly see even on here sometimes we do have a few racist idiots in our fan base.
I'd have thought if it's true we'd have seen YouTube footage by now so hopefully it's just someone stirring.
