Lukaku - A Fond Farewell

I hope he loses every match that he plays in, but I wish him well on a personal level.

He is, after all, our greatest goal scorer of the Premier League era.

Really not bothered by him now. Part of history. We have moved on even before selling him.

History will record his goals but he hasn't been part of anything particularly noteworthy here.

It says an awful lot about him that the majority of blues seem between neutral and happy that he is gone.

Personally I think his behaviour over the last few months was a disgrace, exacerbated by not even having the patience and courtesy to wait until the formalities of his transfer have been completed, before announcing it to the world.

A marked contrast with the dignified manner in which Wayne Rooney left Utd might I add.

But Lukaku is not one to lose sleep over. He never got us, and despite his goals, I never warmed to him in our shirt.

What about the 5 other players we have gained this window who will all only get better?

Not for certain that really is it they are either unproven or inexperienced. Lukaku has proven that he scores more goals than the previous season for every year he has played and his career trajectory is only going one way, just because he gobs off should not cloud people to the very good striker he is.

Good riddance to this idiot. He has no respect for anyone in his life. This has been illustrated by his recent arrest in LA. He claimed that United have the greatest fans?? That's just an opinion. There are far more passionate fans in the world. I bet Everton are chuffed to bits that they have got rid of him as the balance of goals and petulance are in favour of the latter. He decided to join United for 2 reasons. First, his agent gets a better pay off and secondly Conte would not have put up with his attitude or disrespect

I wish Lukaku success and thank him for his service

Well said.

I cant honestly see any upside to losing him though. It symbolises the opposite to what you claim it does as far as I'm concerned. Losing one of the best goal scorers in the PL is an undermining of the club.

The owner stated when he came in:

"I can confirm that I have committed to providing additional funds for transfers and retaining our key players to ensure that we have a strong core to build on for the future."

Stones
Lukaku

...Barkley next out.

I see churn and nothing more than that. And the players brought in look like its just stockpiling for the workload of 4 tournaments rather than being strategically put together as a coherent unit.

Question mate

One of the main reasons for your disdain of Koeman, is that he 'doesn't get everton' or that he 'isn't an everton man and never will be'. If ever there was a person who has never ever 'got' everton in my life of watching us, it's Lukaku. You say losing him has undermined the club, yet he has undermined us at every single turn whenever he goes away on international duty. I understand he is a very good player but shouldn't his constant down-talking of everton be getting on your nerves? Or does he get a pass as he was signed by your beloved?

That's interesting. You would "strategically put together ... a coherent unit"? Odd that Koeman, with his vast experience, with the renowned and very expensive Steve Walsh, haven't been able to come up with a better idea than to simply stockpile random players. You should write to them before they waste any more money.

How has a player contributing 70 odd goals 'undermined' us?

He stated often enough that he wanted success here and preferably to stay put here.

I'd say Moshiri's parsimony last summer made up Lukaku's mind to go. And the spending this summer is only because Lukaku is getting sold for £90M.

It's a mistake to think these people know what they're doing.

Most of the time they dont.

The fact that seemingly every time he goes away on international duty, he is talking himself up saying his future is away from Everton.

TBH, he has every right to pursue his career as he sees fit, it is how you conduct yourself when doing so is important, and he has been a bit of a prat in the way he has handled himself when away from Everton.

And the spending this summer is only because Lukaku is getting sold for £90M.

Also, before you start on the net spent, why not let us finish the transfer window first, eh? (also, who actually cares about net spent, so long as the team is improved)

Will miss the goals, but I never took to the man.
Well said. A 25 goal man, is rare. A player that can score 10 - 15 a season is not. In fact we have just signed a bunch of them. I don't think we are going to be the "one trick pony" we were last season. We won't miss Lukaku's goals.

I wish Lukaku well. Do I wish him success? Not so much.

The reality is that as of end of last season he was too good for our club and not surprising he wanted to move on. I think by the end of next season we will have played well enough with the new team we are putting together to keep top class players like the lukakus of this world.

I am sad to see him go, but his poor behaviour in last few months means that I also hope he fails at man u :D

Can talk the walk but I doubt he'll walk the walk at Utd
Thanks for the 70 goals but not a fond farewell I'm afraid!!!

I don't know, it seems to me that we've got some serious people running our club now. This window has been good so far, lessons seem to be learned. We'd all have preferred Lukaku to stay but wanted to go and he isn't the only player in the world who can score goals.
