Lukaku - Love affair over ?

I assume you watched a lot of mid table French football in the early noughties to know that Drogba was such a star when playing for Guingamp, or not.

The notion that a footballer can't improve at Lukaku's age is absolutely ridiculous. Vardy is another example who at Lukaku's age was playing for Fleetwood in the conference and has now won a premier league title and a golden boot (?). But I suppose you were watching him loads for Halifax Town and he was just a "natural footballer" and never has improved since he was plying his trade against giants such as Eastleigh and Dover...

It's not ridiculous at all cos it doesn't happen. Look at drogbas scouting details going back.... skilful, good touch, fast. Was raw in his movement decisions and strangely enough was physically a bit lacking strength wise.

Vardy.... according to Ian Wright who seen him at fleetwood under Mellon said he was rapid with a great first touch.

Show me a footballer who has a touch as bad as lukakus has been for the past 6 or 7 years who suddenly gets it right? It doesn't happen. Marginal improvements at best.

You've just used Ian Wright to attempt to prove a point...

As if I thought you couldn't get any more ridiculous.

You're doing the lord's work here mate. Amazing that after all this time, people are still blind to his obvious, unchanging limitations

Even if his touched was brilliant, people would of slated other things, its the way most Everton fans are.. instead of accepting him for what he was for us which was a goalscorer which we'd needed for years..

As opposed to just assuming that he had a poor touch cos he played for fleetwood town?

I've played with lads who were in the conference who had far better touches than lukaku.

Why are you so obsessed with first touch? It's not the be all and end all of a player. Especially a striker who usually score goals with 1 touch. If it was, then them blokes who do loads of keepy ups would be the best players in the world.

Also Ian Wright is an absolute buffoon who writes for the Sun. I'd trust your judgement of a player over his.

I welcome Everton fans who slate players like lukaku... players who think they are doing us favours whilst picking up £100k a week and taking the proverbial out of our club.

You may be thankful that lukaku appears to be an upgrade on nick chadwick, Mick madar, James beattie, and numerous other players we have had to make do with for the past 20 odd years of Bill kenwright led austerity.

I view him as a £28m outlay who couldn't trap a bag of cement and had the arrogance of a player not fit to wear the same shirt as Dixie Dean, . Graeme Sharp, Neville Southall, Dave Watson, Andy Gray, Peter Beardsley, Alan ball....

A stupidly over rated player who has just attracted call after call of derision on talksport from United fans flabbergasted at his delusions of grandeur.... some want him gone at a massive loss. They see him for what he is.

No wonder our club has a long journey out of mediocrity when some fans celebrate mediocrity in the form of a striker.

Cos a bad first touch or indeed just a bad touch leads to losing the ball very often.... ala lukaku.

I see your obsession of slating a player who doesn't even play for us anymore runs deeper than I thought. I'm gonna leave you to your madness.

Try commenting on something other than the Lukaku thread, it's fun I promise.

If he was as bad as loads of you make out, how come the same fans say we haven't replaced Lukaku??? If hes that bad surely he doesn't really need replacing..

mediocrity? Lets have Niasse and Tosun instead then yeah

You should welcome fans slating all of our players then mate as almost every footballer are happy to just take a 100k a week of a club.

Your obsession in defending a player who never once cared for us and couldn't wait to leave us more puzzling.

I will post in the odd thread that doesn't involve him... I find the subject of Rom typifies much of the issues we have at the club though. He's not good enough to take us where we need to go and never was.... the fact that people don't see it is worrying.

All well and good wanting to play for juventus it's does juventus want you to play for them that's the issue, he just wouldn't get anywhere near that side. He'll be at Utd for a few more years yet, doubt they'd be many sides that would pay what they'd want for him

Rom scored 25 premier league goals in his last season yet was not good enough for us when we finished bottom half. My god you are deluded.

You actually think we are still a big club? It's 30 years since our prime as a club. Wake up mate we can't attract the best in the world so we get players who are younger and develop them. As we did with Rom who has been called the best striker we've had in the premier league era than more people than just myself. But yeah, we are much better than Belgium's leading all time goalscorer. Proper weird

There's a pair of strawman right there.... niasse and tosun. Of which I'm accepting neither as the future of our side, just in the same way that I'm not accepting lukaku either.

Using your logic Liverpool would still be throwing all their eggs in a lazy Daniel struridge shaped basket.... instead the manager has seen the benefit of 3 footballing forwards. Sturridge who is a far more competent player has been used sparingly and accordingly.

I'm looking for a player more in the Ilk of firminho than lukaku.... a player who doesn't need goals against poor sides to suggest he's better than he is.
