Lukaku - Love affair over ?

Still not seen you in any other thread Pedro mate, seems like you only come on here to bitch and moan about others opinions on a player who doesn't play for us anymore.

The United move must have really hurt you, but it's time to move on.
A few posts elsewhere but this lukaku thread is the gift that keeps giving.

Its my responsibility as an Evertonian of 35 years to eradicate this ridiculous notion that we somehow had some world class player who was too good for us and that he should be appreciated.

Evertons history and standing in the game is more robust and respectable than that clown ever will be.

It's embarrassing to see Evertonians appreciate this self serving lump... he deserves nothing from us the way he behaved.

Kids nowadays Pedro. I blame their parents.

How much would United get for him?
Not what they paid for him.
The top paying teams didn't come for him when he was a golden boot contender. Now hes 'failed'...yeah I know its all relative. And shown himself for just short of the top top level.
I reckon Untd will snatch the arm off of anybody with 50M.
Who's going to pay 75+M for porky goalhanger with ping pong shins.

Don't sit on the fence Pedro.

I was a big Lukaku fan almost right until the end. I always believed that through all the crap he continued to give a solid effort to get the job done even with the awful management a lot of the time. Then the last month his form dipped and it looked like he had pretty much given up. The reason became clear at Arsenal the last day of the year when he turned in a huge effort. The idiot thought he had wrapped up the golden boot and Kane went and scored 4 the second to last game to overtake him. Maybe I was naive before but at the end of that game I realized he only ever played for himself and was glad he was almost certainly gone in the summer.

His behavior hasn't really changed since then. Him and Pogba both look more interested in their personal brand than winning. Honestly I think the superstar aspect of United has killed them. They're galacticos but in a tougher league with less talent. They act like they'll win by just turning up and think they can show off all game. Next thing they know they're going through a season trophyless again. Can't believe they got second last year and once this Martial hot streak ends I'd bet they'll be 6th at best this year. I think we can beat them and maybe Bournemouth too.

It is weird with Lukaku. He was so good for us and I'd say it has crossed his mind how adored he was here, and how good he played for us.In comparison with United, he doesn't seem to be enjoying it at all, and the fans don't seem to like him.

I know it's overused but grass isn't always greener.

He was in every single way the exact same player for us. Exactly the same. He has a close to 1 in 2 goalscoring record for both clubs, and he was equally as bad in general play here as he is at United.

The difference is standards. Evertonians turned a blind eye to him being terrible because we got used to terrible strikers since the early 90s onwards, with very few exceptions. United fans don't do that - their recent history is Van Nistelrooy, Ibrahimovic, Rooney, Van Persie - our recent history is James Beattie, Denis Stracqualursi and Victor Anichebe.

The truth is Lukaku was good enough for an Everton treading water in 7th, and nowhere near good enough for a Manchester United wanting top four/the title.

And for me, Lukaku wasn't good enough for the Everton I wanted - one that has ambitions to compete with the top four. Hence why I was (and still am) very happy we got rid and rinsed United for the money.

Your spot on there mate, if he'd had put the effort in in the games prior to the Utd Semi at Wembley the game would have been over by half time instead he missed every easy opportunity which came his way and then missed the pen in the second half. He was a disgrace in his final couple of months with us.

Agree with all of this. Still see the odd post of people imagining what we would be like if we still had Lukaku now that we have Richarlison, Digne, Bernard, Walcott etc. We'd be worse and the lads would hate playing with him
