Why were you doing that though? Supporting Everton is stressful enough without contorting yourself to nitpick Lukaku's bulging sack of goals.

It's like when Blerto was in charge first season and we went on a ridiculous streak. It was obvious even at the time that we were benefiting from a lot of luck (plus Rom slotting left and right) and weren't close to a legit top 4 outfit, but what's the point of looking for the negatives in that situation? Just take the money and enjoy it while it lasts.

Better forwards I've seen ahead of lukaku in the flesh in an Everton shirt?

He had a fair few faults, which came to the fore later on, yet his goal ratio of 87 goals in 166 appearances equates to 0.52 goals per game - so better than 1 in 2.

But you know, what are goals for a striker aye? You give @Moomin a run in the fishing stakes.

His technical faults were very visible early on but he actually worked hard which kinda nullified them to an extent. He wouldn't be the only striker of that ilk..... Kuyt wasn't a great player technically, he scored goals but importantly made up for his shortfalls with working hard. But that didn't last....

Lukaku sadly has a natural work ethic that sits somewhere between Berbatov and Le Tissier..... two ridiculously talented players.

There is absolutely no fishing here. Just an element of bemusement.... I don't think it's loyalty to the player some are showing.... it's an inability to accept that they were wrong to rate him so highly.

The goal stats are highly misleading. I've never seen a player do the feast and famine so much dependant on quality of opposition..
