Lukaku to Spurs

Being happy at a club doesn't mean you want to commit the next two or three years of your life to them. He was loving life at West Brom last season, can't see him signing for them.

If we don't get in the Champions League qualifier we've no chance and even if we do there will still be other clubs after him imo, can't see him signing a deal until after the World Cup either, his agent would be mad to let him do so prior to all that exposure.

Honest answer really mate is we don't know what's in his mind, can only go off what's been said or leaked by his agent

He's happy here - seems something important to him to enjoy where he plays, he's ambitious, he wants first team football and a starting spot up front, he wants to play in a top league, he wants to play in Europe.

Its down to whatever club fills those criteria and in what order of importance he places them all

Plus some unknown factors, has he fell in love with the place, does he see us as a side that will take him over the next 3-4 years to the place he wants to be at, how important is the money paid compared to him reaching his goals at this age, how much influence his agent/family friends etc have over him, does he want to go the world cup in the shop window or does he want to go with his future settled so he can focus on the national team, does he want to play in england still or does he want to play in another country - spain italy etc, some players never fancy certain countries like so will se ei guess

like someone said it would be dumb of lukaku to sign with anyone before the WC, just would be bad business on his part. We need to get 4th to keep him most likely

In 2-3 years time, mate. He'll be more than worth it, and in the mean time he'll at least good enough to bag ~15 league which isn't a bad return at all.
That's the thing I suppose, it all depends on whether he turns into the player everyone thinks he will. If he does then it would be a great buy but it's gone wrong before. I don't really want to see possibly the whole transfer budget gone on him tbh. Hope I'm wrong though!

Happened before with players though mate, some like to have everything settled so they can concentrate on their football like

Plus remember a crap world cup knocks millions off a players value so not always a good idea, specially given european teams records in south America like, the Benteke injury may make that less likely though as he's now their obvious starter i'd imagine

I'd be happy if we got him. But not arsed if we didn't (Bony or Michu are a good shout). But he'll just end up in a side that underachieves

If we somehow get 4th, he's ours IMO. Actually, even 5th may do it.

But it depends on the price. I think £20m+ is excessive myself.

It's a sellers market though mate for a 15-20 goal forward, hopefully we can get him for 15, but think that requires chelsea wanting to get a quick sale, lukaku wanting to come back a lot, and us not messing around about the fee trying to pay on the never never

Position hasn't really changed since the day we got him, except that he's maybe more likely to leave Chelsea now because of Mourinho's public comments. If he leaves Chelsea will be looking for £20m plus, there'll be plenty of other European clubs interested (most of whom can offer higher wages than us), and chances are that he'll look for a club who've qualified for the Champions League.

Who are all thes eEuropean clubs who can offer more wages? Outside the top 3 in Spain there's no money, likewise Italy and Germany. That really leaves oil-rich Russians ( but the treatment of black players there should count that direction out), Barca/Real/Athletico, Juve/Milan/Napoli, maybe a rich club like Wolfsburg and a few of the french big boys like PSG and Monaco. Is he going to dislodge the likes of Benzema, Zlatan, Cavanni, Costa, Levazzi, Balotelli etc? I can't see Chelsea selling him to Arsenal or Spurs for obvious reasons.....in comparison to the majority of European clubs ( with exceptions like the previously mentioned) Evertons wages are relatively high.

Tend to agree

People keep saying oh he will be off to the continent then without actually thinking about what their saying.

Italy have kinda stopped paying big fees for players, plus the big boys their have pretty good forward line ups already so hardly a guaranteed starter.
Germany only have Bayern who pay big from abroad really, and they have better than Luka
Spain, only Madrid or Barca or maybe athletico, the first two have better, and the third buys south American lids they turn into 40m players rather than spending big themselves
France is a step down in profile unless its PSG or Monaco who have the money yet both already have top forwards
Leaves England out the big leagues, which has Arsenal they wont sell too basically, Spurs who are below us and they wont sell too either, United who don't need as they have massive other areas to adress and the rs who have better as well

Very little room for him to go tbh, as he wants to play at a elite level in a big league and out of the options theirs not really much choice their if he wants to be a guaranteed starter

Only chance for him is if a team in those above has its forwards all taken in the next widnow by teams and needs a instant replacement, think rs when torres left etc

the team that meets the criteria and who he could start for strangely enough is chelsea atm, but obviously he looks like being completely done their thank god

Two things :

Firstly, his Agent will be drumming up interest in him, gets him the best possible price if

A. We attempt( money!LOL) to buy him.
B. He wants to stay at Everton.
C. Spurs could buy him outright.

Secondly, There is no way Chelsea will sell to Spurs, not in a million years. No way. Also, he has clearly specified that if we get European footy, it's more likely.
