LOL at Chelsea demanding £35m for a player thats played 3 games for them. That, right there is whats wrong with football, not us loaning players.
Teams like Chelsea making mega profit on a player who hasnt played double figure games for them.

EDIT: Just checked, he's played 10 games for Chelsea. TEN. And they'll make at least £10m profit due to them paying about £10-12m upfront, so they clearly haven't paid their add ons.

I'm not sure Mourinho wants him, I think he wants Costa.
He has no real connection to Chelsea, been on loan the last 2 season so want have friends there plus he isn't guanteed a start there. Here he'd be a started and a Hero

Jose doesn't want him and has made no attempt to convince him otherwise

You are basing this on what exactly? I suspect Chelsea will be getting shot of Eto, Torres and Ba this summer and i can't see them going buying a full strike force when they already have one of Europes best young talents and a proven PL striker on their books.

He seems an ambitious young lad and given the chance to be challenging on all fronts for the team he has supported as a boy, with arguably the worlds best manager - if Mourinho says he wants him to stay, I think he just might. I've every faith he could kick on and be Chelsea's number one striker, or certainly offer strong competition to a Cavani or Costa as it may be.

Of course, all this is feutile unless we get 4th and give him a question to answer. And it depends also on Chelsea's asking price which is by no means fixed, and the demand for him, which may well be high too. I would love him to stay of course but there are a number of factors which pose a barrier to it.

In one of his interviews he said his ambition is to be one of the best strikers in the world, not just the premier league. Understandably he wants to play with the best players, coaching staff and in the best facilities. Hes obviously enjoying his time here, but thats not our worry. Our job this summer will be to convince him that he can fulfil that potential here. Its a question of our ambition. Roberto said as much in a recent interview when he stated its not necessarily about us finishing fourth but the way we go about competing. Hopefully today will swing that a bit.

Really is up to him now. In our favour - he hasn't long on his contract and seemed unloved at Chelsea. His celebration with Martinez was a joy to watch. Against - his pricetag. I would guess at 22 mil but that could change especially if we get top 4. Whatever happens Martinez has proven to get the best iut of the players. Even Distin and Howard, 2 stallwarts under Moyes, have improved their games. Onwards and upwards blues :)

That's the second hurdle, first we need to agree a fee with Chelsea which I have a horrible feeling, will be well out of our financial reach.

His goal today probably added another million or two to his valuation.

Catch 22 isn't it? Pity his pre December period didn't fire us in to the champs league position so he could practice his Jelavic-flop and drive the price tag down now.

Hopefully Chelsea won't be overly arsed squeezing every penny out of the deal. Shifting Mata and a couple of their strikers off the books around the same period should make things rosey from the Fifa Fair Play perspective. 20-25m seems like a fair price for him

I've no doubt that Lukaku is smart enough to realise we are a team with real potential and on an the rise with one of the best young managers in the game. I can't see why he would choose us over another club if Chelsea decide to get rid. If we had a young player like him with the rest of the young crop of players we have in the squad and coming through, the future looks very bright.
