Lukaku to Spurs

He's had three or four good games in about six months.

This this this

He's been gash but he's our only real foward player, Pity the bean pole Traore got injured because it would have given us a different option

There's also too many weak areas to his game to justify spending anywhere near £20m for him. He's been poor for 3/4 games now and when he's poor he just offers nothing.

Money is a different matter...I'm talking about him as a footballer. He's been a beast since he was practically still dumping in his diapers so you know he didn't have to work like a lot of youngsters did...he probably had defenders pinging off him like a table tennis ball up until 2 years ago. Then he goes to WBA where he's used primarily as an impact forward which didn't bode well for him learning game management and now he's playing full matches and being asked to do all manner of things I doubt he's ever had to consistently as a starting forward, especially at this level. The price on his head is mostly to do with potential, it's not based on a final product. Whether that price is justified or not is another matter but there IS a reason behind it.

His performance is underlined by the loss today, he was even worse against Utd last week. Swerve and get Bony in, or someone who can control a football without flying all over the place

Expect to see a lot of people saying we should swerve him etc now, honestly the big problem is he's starting for his first full season - same as Barkley and in a even more demanding position than Ross, he is bloody knackered and theirs a reason not many 20yo strikers start every game week in week out, get him in next year with some bloody serious options to spell rest and share the workload

Hernandez all day long for half the price for me. Mobile and takes responsibility.

There's no point being a strong lad like Lukaku if you can't judge the ball in flight and win a header, and your first touch is your last all the time.

Get the feeling Hernandez wont suit us and will become crap overnight

You maybe right but spending 20 million on one striker might not be a good idea as he will be playing every game next season and we have the same problem.

Can't believe a player who has played so poorly this year can demand champions league football. RM should call Chelsea's bluff and see who comes in for him, because he is being found out by tight marking defenders and he can't cope. Not worth anywhere near 20 mill.

He's raw in the areas you'd expect at his age...people forget how fast he rose to where he's at now. Too much going for him to just dismiss him.

We can't wait years for him to develop, need players in their prime for now, i'd rather us spend the 20 mill on a really good player with more to his game

I still want him, and I'd still pay 20m for him.

But the type of performance (if u want to call it that) he put in today happens far too often for my liking. Very infuriating, bags of potential but his touch is horrible most of the time and he should of at least scored two today

It seems like i'm in the minority here but i'd be very happy spending £20m on him. However poorly he's playing at present, he has shown glimpses this season of what he's capable of and his potential is up there with anyone. The likes of Van Persie, Suarez, Falcoa, Drogba and Lewandowski weren't doing anything great at his age. Sure he's inconsistent but any 20 year old will be (Barkley anyone?) and i feel he'll improve beyond recognition in the next 4 or 5 years. It's only 4 games ago he scored that great goal against Arsenal and his run and shot last week got the penalty
