I just want to hear him come and say he's been utter tosh because when he was doing bad for that run like like 8 games he was saying he wants join a champions league club etc and was talking [Poor language removed] in general. I'd still buy him though if we could get him for 20mil max because I don't think he'll become crap over night and if it doesn't work out hopefully we'd still get a very handsome return from a sale.
 
The frustrating thing for me today was that Naismith (a much, much smaller guy) is essentially filling in for Lukaku. Naismith is going up for all the headers, doing all the link up play and movement. Essentially doing all the hard work. Lukaku's performance today just reminded me of Saha's last season with us, where it just felt like we were playing with 10 men.

can't argue he's given us goals but his all round play isn't what i expected. i'd rather us get someone who just gives us the goals like gray sharpe vp suarez etc.

You maybe right but spending 20 million on one striker might not be a good idea as he will be playing every game next season and we have the same problem.

Honestly mate, we had bad luck this season, Toure was a mistake bringing him in with him having a pre existing injury and no one could have foreseen kones horror injury, with 2 healthy forwards he wouldn't have had to play anywhere near as much time and maybe would still be fresh

Either way Martinez is far from stupid and must realsie that if he does spend big bringing him in then he needs to have reliable backups to him to get the best out the money

For my own perspective anything over 15m is steep on his full seasons form
 
If his touch and technique were better I'd be all for signing him. But that doesn't usually improve much after the age of 18 and his seems to be getting worse as the season goes on. I'd definitely rather look elsewhere for the money being talked about. Hopefully Mourinho just tells us to [Poor language removed].

Lukaku isn't the finished article but he can only improve with time. I think if we had traore and Kone fit we could have given him a bit more rest over the course of the season.

We definitely need a 20 goal a season striker plus backup if we want to stay in contention for CL next year.
