Lukaku to Spurs

Drogba only bettered Lukaku's record this season twice in his 8 years in this country. I didn't realise he had such a poor record domestically. One amazing season (29 goals), one very good season (20) and the rest no more than 12. Three seasons not even reaching double figures. Incredible.

think a lot of Drogba's reputation was built upon big performances in the big games mate, which tbh isn't a bad way to build a reputation for yourself

55 assists during that time though, which is remarkable consistency overall.

Think Lukaku got a fair few assists when he was on his hot streak too though, wouldn't be surprised if he's on half a dozen or so this year.

Must have been mate, yeah. Really shocked by them numbers though, I would've thought he notched up close to 20 in the league every year. Mad.

it's like the myth of needing the 20+ goal a year striker that we all repeat mate, each season theirs usually only 1-3 players in the prem who get that number as i posted in another thread earlier today

Thing with Lukaku is that he is still young and is poor with his head, Nais wins more headers FFS! which in turn is another criticism of Lukaku he doesn't get close enough to Nais for the second ball. I do believe however age is on his side, if he was a permanent contracted Everton player then he would be taught by Big Dunc how to head the ball properly (who better to teach him!) I don't think they would do this sort of thing with another teams player. Personally and also what Kevin Ratcliffe said last night for the money I would sooner have the lad from Swansea, seems to be an all round better player.

Think for £20m+ you'd expect 15 a season to be classed as a successful signing.

Six since Christmas simply isn't good enough. Don't get me wrong, he was explosively brilliant before that, and that carries his stats signficantly.

Oh it wasn't in jest Tubey

I honestly believe the lads coasts along in the knowledge he doesn't really have to impress anyone at the club because he already thinks he's better than he is and see's himself at a massive club come the summer

He offers very little in most games imo and don't get me started on his first touch and link up play

I have to agree.

I mean, the Rom that we saw pick the ball up just inside the man city half, and leg it into the box, well he's not the Rom we have at the moment. The lad is undoubtedly a natural finisher, he gets in the right positions, even today, if he was a little more clinical, he was gonna bag one. But his work ethic is poor, and in a way
I Blame Naismith.
No, in a way i do, As Evertonians, we're very fickle in the way that, we moan about a striker, who doesn't run his socks off ala AJ, Jelavic or Naismith, unless they're banging in the goals, i.e. Yakubu or Lukaku, and when that stops we moan like mad.
Lukaku, undoubtedly is a top top talent, but he's still overrated for me. There's too many games where he goes missing, and for the good games, he'll be there, but more offen than not, hes missing and that can be detrimental to everything, the way the fans see you, the way the players see you and so forth.

But, i agree, any way you look at it, he's getting a big move in the Summer, whether that be because he's had a huge world cup for Belgium, or whether it's because he has flopped (more likely to be the whole team), he'll still get a move. He'll end up going to somewhere like AC Milan, who can afford to throw £20m at saving their crisis.

For us, it's all well and good building for the future, but what if we regress in the future, and then he wants off. We're on the cusp of top 4 football this season, and for me, we haven't done enough to keep him, infact he's even gone on record saying he'll 'stay' if we get top 4, what we need is someone who can play week in week outm and whilst the Bony comparison is wearing thin already, Lukaku with all his service this season has scored, 12, Bony, with Swansea's service has scored 26 in all competitions.

Don't get me wrong, he could be Michu mk II, but what i'm trying to say is, We need a goalscorer for now, not in a few years time.

I like Rom, but if he's not putting a shift in, same as any other player, i'll say.

Can someone explain where this Bony talk has come from...?
Bony is scoring goals, like Lukaku did last season.

Lukaku hasn't scored lately. Fans want change.

Forgetting what we had previously for the past 10 years.

Don't think it's that - it's the fee that's the issue. Most people would want him here, but the question is whether he's worth pretty much our entire transfer budget when he's spent the best part of six months doing his best Heskey impression.

OK LOL

Lukaku is worth £20m in the same way that McCarthy was worth £13m. You're not just paying based on an ability basis, you're paying for the youth aspect. Lukaku is a pretty much guaranteed 1 in every 2-3 games striker, over a 10 year+ career that £20m is a drop in the ocean.

Thing is mate i can't be sure obviously but i'm convinced personally he's just worn down, started like lightning, then slowed badly before the injury, came back looking fresh again he had had that month break out but after 4-5 games back started to look lethargic like pre injury, don't think its any coincidence and tbh i think Clarke at West Brom realised he wasn't able to handle a full seasons workload and used him brilliantly last season. think we cocked up not getting a healthy forward in instead of an injured one in January really, as being able to rest him may have made him last longer

But as a young player this season will show him the amount of work he needs to do to get the level he desires to be at, and maybe that will stand us in good stead in terms of him coming here and how he pushes on from this season onwards

One thing for certain though is we need to bring in someone good enough with him that we aren't terrified of dropping him for a game or two to rest him
