Lukaku to Spurs

Lukaku is a big reason why we're sitting this high up the table.

No Lukaku and we're sitting 9th or 10th. He's never going to be a world beating striker, I think that much is becoming clear. But he is a good striker, something we haven't had in a while.
Oh shut up will you, he has hardly been blowing socks off.

Lukaku is worth £20m in the same way that McCarthy was worth £13m. You're not just paying based on an ability basis, you're paying for the youth aspect. Lukaku is a pretty much guaranteed 1 in every 2-3 games striker, over a 10 year+ career that £20m is a drop in the ocean.

Hope so - 15 goals a season is definitely worth £20m, if we do get him I hope you're right on that one.

Duncan Ferguson, whom some regard as a legend, never scored more than 11 goals for us in a season...so that part of the debate needs to be left out.
How many goals scored a season can't be taken out of a debate when you're talking about a striker that we may or may not blow our budget on.

The majority of our attacking players are a bit [Poor language removed] to be honest. Barkley's the only one that's actually good at football, so when he's not playing well we look terrible.

Absolutely. A 1 in 2 record in the PL is outstanding. To think Drogba didn't really peak/best years until he was around 28-32ish. He's still going strong now, too. We could easily get a good 15 years out of Lukaku and for 20m...I'd be delighted with that.

I'm not even that arsed about his admittedly at times atrocious ball control, for me his biggest failing is something which will certainly improve with time - composure. He's so eager to make an impact when he does get the ball that he often rushes that first touch and ends up frustrating himself and the crowd. Perfect example today when he got the ball near the byline inside our own half after a clearance. A more experienced striker would have taken the ball under control and looked to play it out, but his first instinct was to knock it forward and charge towards goal, resulting in it going out and gifting Southampton a throw in.

He's boss, and there's nobody better to improve him than Martinez. I'd buy him all day long for £20m.
