200k a week after tax....he's quality but football really is crazy....to think he doesn't even come near the top earners these days still ..

Dunno .... Depends how fit he is for games against the lower half teams.

I envisage chelsea will be 2-0 up in plenty of games which is usually the trigger for him to show an interest.

Looking at posts above that opinion seems to be shared.

Yeah he will be 20 goals plus but will he be a match winner and be the difference in key games Vs top 4? History says no.

I'm going to say:

Lukaku: 23 league goals

DCL: 8 goals, going to be a tough season for him.

Well done Roberto.

Mad how we asked for Demba Ba and Chelsea said no but any chance you'll loan Lukaku.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez tried to sign Demba Ba from Chelsea BEFORE he was offered his Stamford Bridge teammate Romelu Lukaku instead.

The bizarre lucky break happened on deadline day when Martinez was looking for a new striker and contacted the west London club.

Martinez originally asked about Senegalese star Ba, who had been a target for the Goodison club under then-boss David Moyes before joining Newcastle from West Ham.

The Toffees had been tipped off that the 28-year-old could go and wanted to beat Arsenal for his signature, ideally on loan.

However, Chelsea blocked that move and revealed that Lukaku, who scored 17 goals on loan at West Brom last season, would be available instead - and Everton came up with the best terms to borrow the 20-year-old Belgian.

Not a source directly quoted there...in a story written by top spoof Alan Nixon.

Common knowledge mate.

We asked for Ba, they said no. They offered Lukaku - preferring Everton over West Brom as a step up test. Club worked out financials. Martinez called Lukaku a couple of hours before deadline.

Lukaku: "He called me two hours before the deadline"

"I spoke to Demba Ba and he said, 'Rom, what are you going to do? Are you staying or leaving?'

"I said, 'Look, my friend, I'm willing to leave'. But, I wanted to go back to West Bromwich Albion. I wanted to go back there, I already received the whole training schedule from West Brom for the whole month.

Then Michael Emenalo called me, the old managing director of Chelsea, and said, 'You did well at West Brom, but you need to try and play for a club who's closer to the top.'

"I said that's true, because if I do well there I probably would get my chance at Chelsea.

"I'll go to Everton and say yes to Roberto Martinez. He called me twice and I didn't even pick up the phone."

Best pure goalscorer we’ve had since Bob Latchford, it’ll be good to see how much he’s improved for his time in Italy.

There’s going to be quite a few central defenders having nightmares both before and after going up against him this season.

Gary Lineker? I didn’t see either of them, like.

I don’t include Lineker -good as he was - as he joined a great team that adjusted to suit him.

Latchford and Lukaku scored loads of goals for us in sides that weren’t a patch on the side Lineker joined.

He was great for that one season, except for that horrendous miss at Oxford that cost us the title… grrrrrrr
