Lukaku

Must be the only one who is sad to see a loaned in striker. I love Lukaku but he only helps us this year. The Fellaini money will never get spent and we are going to spend what 2-3 mill on a loan fee. Rather a permanent signing

I know what you mean but beggars can't be choosers. Honestly think he'll cover the cost of his loan fee in premiership prize money (£600,000 per place?) so no worries there. Also more likely to win a trophy with him. Excellent signing.

in lukaku and deulefeu we have two potential world class players. the key word though potential and they wont be with us during their best years

Plenty of time for that. Looks like we're taking in £30m odd this window and only spending around £25m. Could be a chance for some spending on a striker in the january window. Or sell Jelavic like we've done with Victor and look to get someone in permanently.

Delighted with this.... saw a lot of him last season and he was a beast. Apparently a great lad too, very popular at WBA.

I guess our history suggest that's not how it typically works.

No, you're right there, it doesn't. But you never know. We spent money before selling this year with the Felli deal never certain, so some things change. We have taken a hell of a windfall though. I reckon we may have some money, if not a lot, to spend.

I'm in an optimistic mood now FFS, don't spoil it for me!!

Ever since I watched him live at the 2-1 win v WBA, I've loved him as a player and thought we'd be brilliant with him up top. Beast really is the right word. He's got everything we need. Well done Roberto Martinez!

To be honest, the fact that it's Martinez first season it's always gonna tough in the window for him. Especially when trying to keep our best players.

He's played it safe by buying players he knows, keeping 1 key player, and adding a bit extra with credible loans who have proven records. He's also sold a player for a good price.

He could've spunked all the money on unproven players and it bite him in the arse. But he hasn't.

He'll have ideas to put into place, and without falling at the first attempt, he'll look at having a solid first season and move on into the next.

He's done well

lets calm down here

he did well from w brom last year however he has done nothing for chelski - has he ever scored for them? and he's certainly looked average the first few games of this season.

nevertheless beggars cant be chooser and if he scores 10-15 then its a loan worth having - we wont have him for more than a year anyway - Chelski will never sell as he is the long term replacement for Drogba.

Well he's only played twice in the league.

17 goals in 35 league games for West Brom.

I'm kind of surprised that Martinez wanted a big centre forward but Lukaku is exactly what we need. Defenders will be terrified of him (especially in the derby hopefully) and I'm sure that he'll enjoy playing with his international team-mate Mirallas.

Now if this guy only scores 1 league goal in 20 games something seriously is wrong.
