Lukaku

This is another huge motivating factor for him this season. World cup is coming up and Lukaku is down the pecking order for Belgium, specifically behind Benteke. Courtois dethroned Mignolet in goal last year with his stunning performances on loan to Atletico Madrid (he's only 21) and Lukaku will be looking to do the same to Benteke. Couldn't have picked a better year to take him on tbh.

Agreed. He'll be using us to fight for his place with his national team. Belgium are just loaded right now...and they're fairly young. Think of them in 2018. Scary.

i hope he is going to play he's best season, to become Belgium nt first choice
i don't see him get many chanches at Chelsea
because nobody wants torres so he is there for the rest off he's contract
eto is probably mourinho's first choice now.
and next year they are again after a striker
i see him being sold just like sturridge was.
i hope we are there for him then

Apparently Chelsea paid 10 mil for Lukaku, and that rose to 17 mil in add ons.

So humour me here guys, how much would we have to pay to keep Lukaku if it works out for him here this season?

For me it'd have to be 20 mil at the very least.

Whatever it takes!

It depends. Player power goes a long way these days but it seems some clubs have taken the initiative to try and shift the power back to the clubs i.e. Spurs over Bale and RS over Suarez. I'm sure Mourinho rates him highly, just not high enough to lead the line for Chelsea, yet.

Would cup year is certainly a big factor. All the good players not getting into their teams would of been looking of a loan or maybe a perm to get them into their world cup squads. Personally thought we should of exploited this a little more aiming for really good players who are just not getting into the first teams of their clubs.

Should offer them half of the money we've got left over in January, so around 15m, to make it permanent.

Thing is Chelsea can afford to take hits on the fee, i think its more to do with how many goals he scores this season, if he plays great and bags plenty chances are the price will go up, catch 22
