he scored 17 in his first season... then 15 in his second... you can't yet give him that credit...

32 from 66 prem appearances is very nearly a goal every other game, over a full season that would be c20 goals, at 20 years old that's good, probably never been done before.

In the Premier League he played for a poor West Brom team, and normally scored on the counter attack. Before that he played for Anderlecht, in a poor Belgian league. A quick youtube search of highlights shows him running on to balls and scoring.

All you have to do is watch his best goals. He's best when he can get a head of steam and run at goal. This is almost certainly how he is used to playing.

He's a fantastic prospect, perhaps one of the best young strikers in the world and you are swerving him because he isn't literally Drogba in his prime.
so he normally scored on the counter attack, therefore he wasn't used in a target man system? how does that make sense... what about when the other team weren't attacking for west brom to counter.. gees.

i'm swerving him because he's not drogba in his prime.... yeah thats exactly what i'm saying mate... jesus christ

Hmmmm..... well maybe if we can get some of these targets we've been linked with in the midfield, some genuine class, then his 15-20 goals will be enough.. and his dry spells won't be so imperative to our amount of goals as we'd then have some pacey skillful midfielders too.
He was still only 20 last season mate, it's understandable that he had spells of inconsistency. The issue for us is that w didn't have cover for him due to Kone and then Traore being crocked, so Martinez couldn't pull him out for a game or two, like he could with Barkley - who's the same age....

He was running onto the ball. The ball was looped overhead and he runs to it and past the defenders and scores. That's his game. We want him to be central to bringing the midfielders into the game and playing with his back to goal. He hasn't done that before. Historically, he waits for a long pass and latches onto it and takes it alone.

This is fundamentally different than having your back to goal, taking the ball while stationary, and laying it off to a bombing fullback or AM. This is something he needs to improve. I believe he will, because he's 20, and has shown flashes of this ability.

so we need to judge his as the target man and not the guy whos gonna run onto things, if thats not how we're playing...

just look at fellaini.... CM hes garbage, AM he's great.. SO if we're looking for a target man, buy a talented target man...

But he's 20 mate, and has shown brilliant talent. I believe he can be an extremely talented target man and be a striker to build around. In the meantime, he'll score 15-20 goals, and if he never ends up as good as we want, we can sell him for a profit.

He's a 'risk' but really, no, no risk at all.

how don't i ? ask any man utd fan....

he played CM and was great if you want a crab going backwards and left to right...

only puts a foot in if he can be arsed.

and where did moyes play him at his best?

There were times when he played up front and scored goals, there were other times when he played there and was absolutely naff, like against Stoke away when he ended up headbutting Shawcross.

In the 2011-12 season he was great in midfield, at the Etihad when we drew 1-1 Yaya Toure found him unplayable.

well... the answer to my question was, he was at his best in the AM position... that's common sense.. CM he was lazy, wouldnt track back, only put a foot in when he could be arsed and the majority of the time just went left to right and backwards.
