Gets the ball ballooned into him, takes it in the air with his first touch, second touch he's away before smashing it in the back of the net. But apparently he can't trap a ball.

Target man.

He plays towards the goal. He runs on to the ball.

We're asking him to hold it up, I guarantee he's never done it that way - he's never played in a system where it's required. He's always been able to rely on athleticism.
you're making all these statements, but i'm gonna need some sort of clarification to how you think you know that? i would've thought a big 6 ft (something) striker would have played this target man system in his footballing years.

Im sick of beating the Lukaku is [Poor language removed] drum and providing all the facts of why for people to tell me he has scored 14 goals in one of the best Everton teams I have ever seen, i genuinely believe Kone could have scored more.

How bad have we been in the past for some of our supporters to be creaming themselves over a 15 goal striker, kopites wud be pissing themselves laughing at them

he scored 17 in his first season... then 15 in his second... you can't yet give him that credit...
His ratio in the PL is 1 in 2 and he's just turned 21 mate. He's a prodigious talent and whilst I'd agree that his first touch is currently sometimes his weak spot, he's got the potential to be genuine World Class if he keeps his head down and is well handled

so basically what you're doing is, pointing out the 10% of balls he controls really well... what i'm pointing out is the 90% he doesn't... now unfortunately i have no video evidence.. because there were no goals at the end of these poor touches.

Hmmmm..... well maybe if we can get some of these targets we've been linked with in the midfield, some genuine class, then his 15-20 goals will be enough.. and his dry spells won't be so imperative to our amount of goals as we'd then have some pacey skillful midfielders too.

Lukaku, he's the pair of trainers you wanted as a kid, one pair left in the shop and they are too small. They look the part, just hurt your feet....ah sod it, just spend a years pocket money on them, your feet may shrink....

In the Premier League he played for a poor West Brom team, and normally scored on the counter attack. Before that he played for Anderlecht, in a poor Belgian league. A quick youtube search of highlights shows him running on to balls and scoring.

All you have to do is watch his best goals. He's best when he can get a head of steam and run at goal. This is almost certainly how he is used to playing.

He's a fantastic prospect, perhaps one of the best young strikers in the world and you are swerving him because he isn't literally Drogba in his prime.

Here is the definitive answer to end the debate:

Lukakau, with back to goal, is relatively poor. But his other attributes make up for that, making him, overall, a very good player. If he improves his deficiencies, which he has plenty of time to do, he will become an excellent player.

As you were.
