He's deliberately hunted out a short, random stretch of games in which Lukaku's form dipped - and all players have dips in form now and again - and is comparing it to Naismith's best period of form with us in order to convince himself that Lukaku is no better than Naismith.

I'm pointing out the facile nature of his skewed argument by deliberately misinterpreting him, and comparing the three players over the period most favourable to Lukaku.

Maybe to my credit I grew up playing football instead of dreaming away school days to sign a 6ft 6 pace rated 20 and finishing rated 18 player on footy manager.

It's very hard to judge Welbeck as a striker because we never see him played there.

However his technical ability is better (says a lot about Lukaku) and attitude is better.

Honestly I'm not convinced on either and I flip flop on Lukaku every week however after this World Cup if Bobby still wants him I think Chelsea will gladly sell to us for 20m. I can't see any foreign teams interest as he doesn't have the technical ability to play in their leagues.

Welbeck has played up front plenty of times for United, he is just jarg.

I seen Kone play in the dutch league for PSV on TV a few times and was impressed whilst cautious enough to see Kezman and Kuyt weren't all that great. I was surprised when he ended up at Wigan as he has the attributes to have played

I've seen him play many times thanks, for PSV on TV and liked him then, he never really got a fair crack in spain but I think he showed enough against us for Wigan to justify a £6m spend on him, very pacey, skilful, strong, "can hold the ball up and link play".

Is he 21 with a 1 in 2 record though? Thats the million dollar question, if he was 21 he would improve by 80% and turn into super striker in the next 2 years whilst telling the world only Champions league will, do and that he's the complete striker who can't play as a target man...

Sarcasm aside, that is what I hear from Rom and it is worrying. He talks like he is Thierry Henry whilst having the touch of Lenny Henry. This world cup is a sobering moment for him I believe.

I get Welbeck, i really do. For what he does he is fantastic. But if he didn't play for United and played at West Brom instead, would he still be commended for it? A striker who doesn't score and a winger who doesn't assist many goals. The only thing he is good for is running around for 90 minutes and i could do that for 50 grand a week! no offence to the lad but what does he actually contribute to the team?

Lukaku needs players all around him to put them on a plate for him to really thrive. He doesn't make his goals and our wingers like to go for goal themselves bypassing him altogether. However how many did Lukaku score last season when he was simply finishing off a chance rather than making it before hand? Never mind first touch, what is the old saying, second touch is a celebration?

I think it indicates a player who values himself a little too much...
