Indeed, but it's still a gamble and there are other areas of the squad that need strengthening. Bony has looked good and he may even do better than Lukaku, but Martinez has seen Lukaku and worked with him already.

You need to be prepared to gamble sometimes when it comes to signing players, but Martinez may think that if he can't get Lukaku, he'll take the 20 Million and spend it to strengthen elsewhere rather than risk blowing it all on one player he's unfamiliar with.

He clearly has faith in Kone or he wouldn't have signed him
I think Martinez likes Bony quite a lot and considers him back up plan if Lukaku doesn't materialise. Lukaku is very much the front runner but Bony is a very good player to have as a second choice.

Origi has been rated at the same level of ability as hazard by lille. Where does the 8-10mil come from, just the report you posted as thats not the reality.

Irrespective of this id also take a punt on origi for the right price. However if a choice of wellbeck and origi OR lukaku then its the latter every single time.

Lets be honest Martinez has not said anything negative about one player, even Vellios got this comment:- “I think it’s been a disappointing season for himself but he’s always had a terrific attitude and always a real desire to try to work hard for the team,” - which we all know is nonsense.

Its not his style not to be positive. I think he will try for another loan season for Lukaku rather than risk £20m+.
The more I think about Origi the more I think £8-£10m would be a risk worth taking.

Have we even been linked to bony? Not sure where all the comments about him being sexond choice have come from.

There is no other striker in the world who we could sign for 20m+ that could do a job as good as Lukaku
Agreed. I don't even see a risk in signing lukaku. He will score goals and he will get better. We can flesh out the squad with loans and frees. Our first 11 can beat anyone. Surely we can't have injuries as bad as last season.

Let's be honest we should be able to afford lukaku and still have a good £15million left over after the amount of money we've brought in from transfers and the new tv deal.

I don't know if he'll go for Bony, I really don't

I can see arguments both for and against. Martinez clearly isn't afraid to take a gamble now and then and he's been shrewd with some of the signings.

Bony is certainly coming off a good season and I think he has a lot of positive abilities. But Martinez might think that it's better to stick with the options we have, get someone like Traore on loan and then look at spending the money on a CM and a winger. I'm convinced he wants to give Kone another chance. He'll have to stand by the Wigan players. Alcaraz, Robles and Kone will all get a chance next year. He'll think he has to back them

The thing with Lukaku is that he could be monumentally gash for about 75mins but then he'll bury the one and only chance he'd get. £20m is a bargain.

You right mate

No way could there be another striker out there cheaper than 25m who could score 15 goals a season

He's a rare breed is our Rom and we must move heaven and earth to sign him, I truly believe in 5-6 years he will be worth 80-90m

wow, the Lukaku fan boys are out in full force - go on lads!!! £20m, £30m, £32.5m - done!!!

Nah, just not bought into it at all, no popcorning, just a very opposite view to many of you. I'm sure if all the astute managers in world football see the player that you do, then Rom will be gone for £30m and everyone will point at Mourinho and laugh at him.

At this moment in time the enigma that is Rom is being shown what front running is all about by a 19 year old - explain that? It will be because of the limitations I expressed concern at a long while ago.

BTW The world isn't flat...
