The thing is mate, if you read back. You do have valid points about his touch etc nobody is denying that. Yet he still has managed 31 goals in the last 2 seasons which for me justifiably in the current financial climate is worth £20mill.

I also see the potential for him too improve as he is only 21 and from what i read is a student of the game and he's always looking to improve. He has so many plus points that make the negatives worth taking a risk on.

You mention keyboard warrior/fanboy that's how you appear, obviously you feel your opinion is more valid than most even though you don't back any of it up. I keep giving you answers to back up why I think he'd be a good signing, yet you don't like him seems to be your best response.

You definitely are no scout mate i'd be worried if you were as you can plan a lids future career after watching him for 40minutes hahahaha twice hahahaha

Happy to reply back to a well worded post.

My biggest concern is his technique and touch - I don't feel he can improve them to the extent that he needs to. For me that is the biggest issue. It appears his own national team mates aren't comfortable in hitting it to him as he doesn't retain the ball well.

In and around the box he's very good, to some that is the be all and end all. To me its an important part, but his overall forward play leaves alot to be desired.

He worries me as he is the type of player that teams will learn how to contain, Pulis did it, Pochetino did it and that is to get tight to him and don't allow him to turn it and face you. With his back to goal he is no threat, his lay offs are very hit and miss. He loses too many duels for a big fella and his head goes down.

I believe we need a more rounded striker and for me Rom is the perfect impact player to come on for last 20. Example the other night against Uraguay - England could have done with him.

he certainly splits the fanbase, I can't help thinking it's the price tag putting people off which is completely understandable as it does pose a massive risk for us. We can't deny that. I don't think that's a reason to inflate his inadequacies though.

It's a tough one. I myself as much as I would love to see him back, am also mightily worried about spending a majority of the transfer budget on one player.

The thing is Goal scoring Strikers are premium dollar and that's the reality of it. Can we guarantee he will become World Class, no of course not but it's risk that might be worth taking.

The loan system does weird things to be peoples heads because we have had him for a year its a quasi think i believe that we have some piece of him or if we got him it wouldnt be a massive improvement on what we saw last year because we already saw it.

I bet if he had been at at say WHU last season and scored the same number of goals people would have no probs signing him for 20- 25 mill.

Loans are weird.

When Everyone talks about Lukaku's potential it normally means that they think he will turn into the next Drogba.

There's absolutely no evidence of that apart from he looks like a man mountain. Lukaku right now can do one thing and that's score goals.

We had a fantastic attack last season especially when you include Baines and Coleman and any half decent striker would have scored 15 for us. Even Giroud got about that for Arsenal and he has much more to his game. Lukaku looks good in a counter attacking team but back to goal when it requires someone with good technical ability I'm really not sure.

Origi's technique however looked far better and he's quicker over 5 yards as well. I'm not saying we should necessarily get him but it does go to show Lukaku is a risk at 20m never mind more. If Chelsea thought he would increase in value they're mistaken.

Probably worth it in the long run I suppose....just not entirely taken with Rom.
He splits the fans, its a surprise to me as I think had he been kept fresh and stayed injury free he would have got 20+ goals and we have been screaming out for this for bloody years

I think we've needed to invest heavily in a forward again for quite a long time definitely. There are just some glaring deficiencies in Roms game which are excused because he does the best thing a striker can do, which is score. I think people are just wary of spending a lot on a player who's faults are technical and not the easiest to just iron out.

And by the same token goalscoring is an art form, it cant be taught and he scores goals.

Give me goals over boss tekkers all day long son.

I'm not saying I don't want him. I'm saying I have concerns. Until Kone steps up to the plate, Rom is the best we can do.
