Lukaku

Jokes aside there are areas lukaku can improve his game. He's 21 though and his record for us and in the league speaks for itself. In all likelihood he will develop further as a player. He scores goals and that's what we need. How many times have we had that workhorse type striker up top who just didn't score enough goals?

Welbeck has played up front plenty of times for United, he is just jarg.

Attitude better than Lukaku?? You have just made that up, admit it.

Lukaku's attitude is someone who thinks he's better than he is. That person can be dangerous to manage because a) when thinks go wrong it's never their fault and b) it can be difficult to get them to change their ways.

As far as we're concerned it might be fine now but if Lukaku hasn't improved in a year I don't think Martinez would be happy and that's the point it could all go very tits up.

As for Welbeck, I agree that all he looks like now is a run-a-rounder but his touch, holdup play and pace are all better than Lukaku right now. Who knows how a run as the main man knowing he was the main man would change him. As I said I'm not saying we should get him, I thought he didn't deserve to go to the World Cup never mind start but as a striker it would be unfair to judge either way.

I'm not saying I don't want him. I'm saying I have concerns. Until Kone steps up to the plate, Rom is the best we can do.

I see your concerns, I have them, I can see the other side of the argument, at times he looks poor, disinterested, with the touch of a baby elephant chasing a peanut, people are concerned, I mean this is a player we are probably gonna have to break our transfer record for, your talking 20m+, so of course people have doubts.

But hes a 21 year old Striker, I recall watching his first few games for Chelsea, he was actual LOL bad, hes come on since then and I can imagine he will only get better, but IF, by some miracle hes reached his peak at 21, hes still an outstanding goal scorer, rather than a scorer of outstanding goals.

People have this "dream", a dream in which we pick up the next Michu for 2m, the next Jela for 5m, well look how that turned out in the end, hes scored over 30 goals in the last 2 seasons, I honestly cant be bothered to check actual facts, but im pretty sure if you added up the total goals scored by Everton Strikers in the last 5 years, its doubful you would get to 30, people also have this idea that theres better value around, Remy for 10m lads, despite him being a money grabbing weapon with questionable morals and also pretty nailed on for Arse, Bony, who with only 1 season in the bank, seems a gamble, mostly given the fact he would probably cost around the same fee.

So sure, I can see why people have concerns, but at the end of the day we need a top class striker and I consider Lukaku such a player.

You don't gamble 20m quid if you are Everton. End of discussion.

If anyone has doubts about Lukaku then that's it.

Origi at 8m-10m, sure we can stomach that if it goes pear shaped but not 20m.

Top goal scorer no doubt, but I worry that his hold up play is as poor as it is and it actually inhibits the rest of the team. His goals are invaluable but you'd want him to make more happen around him sometimes. For 20m or more, you'd expect a striker who can cause chaos to a defensive line and Rom just doesn't do that. He is a massive poacher as somebody else said before. You'd assume he could adapt his game a bit better as he gets older and for our sake hope he does.

I understand people being in 2 minds about Lukaku, I get it I really do.

What I don't get is wanting to buy Origi for £8-£10million based on 2 World Cup substitute appearances. I for the life of me cannot figure out how this conclusion was reached.

LOL.

£8-10m on a player who's scored a total of 1 senior League goal in his career in France, would be a risk worth taking but double that amount for an actual proven PL goalscorer isn't.

Nurse, nurse, he's out of bed again!

He moaned a bit last year when we started using him as a target man, and then at the end of the year I seem to recall him saying he's more of a complete striker now. I don't think he achieved that to be honest. He's dead good at finishing cut backs but he needs to be stronger and bully defenders more. Get the impression he'd be happier if we played more through balls to him.

I only had to see Rooney and Barkley once and knew they were class at younger than 18... whats your point? Do you have a mind of your own?

That's true. Touch and athletic ability are god given. Defenders and holding midfielders and work-man-like pros can always get better but all players have a limit to their talent.

There's no guarantee Lukaku will get better. He has the physical ability to be a Drogba but if he doesn't have the attitude then I'm not so sure.

On the other hand this WC could be a humbling moment for him and he could run back to Bobby willing to learn and reapply himself because he is smart and ambitious and Bobby could turn him into someone who is world class but it's a gamble and the risk/reward ratio has to be right for us.

Origi could be both a better upside and a lower risk.

Got to ask all the diehard Lukaku fans.

If teams figure out how to play him and he can't score. What's he worth if we where to sell him?

LOL.

A proven goal scorer is someone who has gone more than two seasons and with the same team.

But I was purely talking about the amount of money. Here I'll try it in simpler language.

We can't afford 20m if things go wrong.
We can afford 8m-10m if things go wrong.
Good?
