Lukaku

Lets face it, He probably hasn't even made up his mind yet. If we don't get him, there are good alternatives out there for a similar/smaller fee.

Either of Hernandez, Bony or Benteke would replace Lukaku's goals no problem and should be available for a similar fee - less for Benteke with his injury and Hernandez with his lack of games last season. I think we'll have a decision from Lukaku by the end of next week and can finally start spending the bulk of the war chest then.

We have more to offer to Lukaku than the other way around, I'd love him here but there are other players out there who will be around the same price mark who can do the job. Lukaku's potential sell on value is enormous which I think is one of the key attractions for us at the moment.

Don't want Hernandez, Benteke is crocked and I don't think Bony would come here/we would want to spend what Swansea are asking.

I am struggling to see an option outside of Lukaku, and the fact that pretty much nobody else has been 'linked' kinda makes me think the club are very confident in getting it done.

TBH, I'm more worried about the fax machine cocking this up than anything else.

That argument is pretty weak, though. You've got to play the cards that fate deals you. Everton - Kenwright included - did brilliantly last summer in a situation not of their making.

Well that's strange because I think just sitting there going that's brilliant is a weak argument. Out of all the players we got in permanently last summer macarthy was the only who was any good. Kone looked crap then got injured, Joel looks suspect but is very young and alcaraz has been down right awful.

Add to that, that we wanted macarthy but couldn't afford him and we wanted rid of felliani. Don't forget he was on 75k wages and blatantly didn't suit martinez style and spent a fair bit of last season injured. If man u had of bought herrer like they where going to. We would of been stuck with him and there is a good chance that the loan money for lukaku and Barry might of came out of the felliani deal as well.

So if man u had got herrer, we could be looking at no macarthy, no striker And a midfield of felliani and Osman till felliani got injured then what? Who else would we play there?

So yes I agree we did well on the last day, but was it all down to bill the master tacticians grand vision? Was it my backside!

There's a lot of ifs and maybes in there. I'm referring to the way events actually unfolded. Everything else is irrelevant.

Last summer - from the moment we hired Martinez to the last day of the transfer window - was a great success. If you aren't prepared to give Kenwright some credit for that, you've thrown rationality out of the window.

I'm not his biggest fan, but I recognise when he's done well.

Yeah, all those hypothetical situations really killed us last season.
