Lukaku

The longer he stays away, the sooner he will forget us unfortunately. On WC duty he will have Hazard reminding him of Chelsea, Mirallas reminding him of Everton and Fellaini reminding him of Accrington Stanley.
I don`t know how we are going to replace his goals though.

I think Lukaku is great and want him to sign primarily because of that. It's insanely hard to find a consistent goal scorer. If you look over the goal scoring charts you can count the number of players who appear near the top each year on one hand. He could be there (he almost is for the last two years depending on where you cut off the charts).

But regardless of all that ... I want us to get him because it would truly feel different for Everton. It would signal intent and that things really are different now. I know we all loved our style of play this year and beating top teams ... but ultimately you could argue: we've finished fifth before. Moyes managed it (and better) and he's literally the worst manager who has ever existed right?

If RM can pull this signing off, convince Lukaku to sign and convince BK to pay ... then things are *really* changing.

We certainly need to act quickly. There's a lot of clubs already doing great early business, and I feel we're going to let Lukaku slip because of of snail-pace transfer policy. It's as if we ring a club on day 1, off a stupidly low sum, then every day up the price by £1.

We just can't afford him without selling I think, and who do we sacrifice to get him? Baines? Coleman? Barkley? McCarthy?

I still think we should be looking for a mid priced player to enlarge the striking options and then persist with some of the strikers we already have

A CM is also needed

Any idea if we are remotely in with a chance?

With all this money from the tv deal there surely has to be something to spend. I'm pretty sure we came out of the transfer window 10 million up as well. 6 mill on Kone looks like a nightmare as he is already 30 now and he has hardly kicked a ball for us.

If Roberto is prepared to put our signings on hold until after the WC he must think we have a chance of signing Rom, you'd think that some sort of conversation would have taken place between them. I think (hope) that it's a matter of if Chelsea want him and give him assurances regarding game time he stays there, if not he asks for move to us.

That was £6M for the privilege of not buying Kenwyne Jones. Bargain.

Very true mate, I can't see him wanting to leave the Prem but it all boils down to £££.

I think (hope) he'd like to stay in the prem as well, not sure what the wage structures are like at clubs like Atletico, Dortmund and Roma either, I'd guess our max would be about 70k (Felli's old wage) per week? I doubt any of them would be able to make an offer much better than that?

The only problem I see is once it goes over £25M. He could score two or three in Brazil then it's goodnight Irene. RM has the ability to sweet talk him and I think Rom respects Everton as a whole, and the question is whether he wants to become even more of a legend and bring true glory to this club.

Of the clubs linked I'm not sure any could/would pay over £25 mil for any player. Like you say hopefully Roberto has had a word and he wants to come here, refusing to sign the contract offer until he has spoken to Mourinho and gotten assurances about his role has hopefully niggled Jose a bit further. I think offering the contract without the manager even speaking to Rom about his season on loan and his future plans for him is a bit disrespectful to the player as well. It kind of shows up the fact that their main concern is protecting their investment rather than his development and well being, big contrast in management style from what he has experienced this year. I would guess that Rom has more trust in Roberto to do right by him than he does in Jose.
