He's not a kiss arse in the Neville mould.

We either pay him and his club properly to have him or we don't. None of this "True Blue" crap; simply a talented player on the books.

Not sure how trustworthy you lot think he is but THT has been tweeting that Lukaku has made up his mind on moving to us permanently & Chelsea signing Drogba had a big influence in our favour..

£20m, yes. £18m with addons, no brainer. Anything north of £20m, I'd see it as a fairly poor deal but I'd live with it as he's a good player who we'd always get money back on, but it stops us being flexible in improving other areas of the squad with the cash saved.

I'll be honest, this deal makes sense from a finance, football and club perspective, pay what's asked and get it done but I get where your coming from, 1 in 2 could be 1 in 1 with a lesser striker but better winger... Simplistic numbers but you get my point.
That being said if we get Rom and sell no one, this would be our best window in decades.

No... I'm excited by the transfer, I think he's the best we can get for under £20m, but I'm not going to go mad and forget my reservations about him in certain aspects. That's all it is. Do I have to be 100% "Lukaku is going to be the greatest striker the world has ever seen" because he's signing to belong here?

I'm fairly sure I could vault myself raving about the guy in this very thread.

I think we all saw enough of him last year to know he's not perfect. I remember how happy I was when we got him on deadline day last season though and the only tinge of regret was that if he did well we would never be able to buy him. He scored goals but his all round game was a bit disappointing at times. Still happy we are signing him though. Massive improvement compared to the type of strikers we have bought in the last 10 years.

Ronaldo, Messi and Suarez - that's pretty much the open and shut list. Then Ibrahimovic et al behind them.

I guess I just have a different definition of the word "guarantee". For me, goals in two seasons in counter attacking systems doesn't make him a guarantee - because if he was a proven guaranteed 20 goal a season striker, we wouldn't have a sniff because Chelsea would not let him go or Barca/Real Madrid would be in for him.

He could be that player, but he isn't guaranteed to be yet. He could go Jelavic on us easily in a certain system, we just don't know.

You see how he's only talking vagaries and nothing of substance - "not cut and dry", "changed his mind" and so on?

That's because he and his bessie LCAB are 100%, no doubts about it frauds, and have been since around 2011 - you know, back in the day they'd just actually say someone was signing and be correct, instead of being @AGENTITKLOL Twitter wannabes after attention.

bit odd like. 2 years ago, suarez was vilified for not being clinical. one season of actually being clinical and he's a more guaranteed scorer than ibrahimovic. not for me like

I was thinking about this earlier - the whole Everloan thing has been blown away hasn't it? Barry and Lukaku on permanents, intent to bring in Deulofeu and Traore again.
