I've just seen two reports about Lukaku here in the last few minutes. One is that he's on the brink of a 25 million pound move to Wolsburg, which was in a post here on the last page, and that Real Madrid want to get him or Falcao on loan.

Im almost positive i saw something in the neighborhood of £40k/week at Chelsea. Even Man City wouldnt be so daft as to give a promising player who hadnt done THAT much £80k/week.

From what I read when he was signed in 2011 he was already earning after tax in Belgium in excess of £1 million a year so that would have been about £1.6 million gross. as a 17 year old. It was rumoured he signed at Chelsea he did so on a basic £40k a week but that was due to grow as the contract proceeded (loyalty bonus) and as he went from being a teenager.

So did I Google but the figure you quote also states that figure was his 2011 wages. In other words around the figure of £1.6 million I quote in my earlier post as being his wage in Belguim prior to his transfer to Chelsea.

Why do you care about the budget? We've been run like a penny pinching club for too long there's enough frigging money going into the club for us to afford him. If the club go for him then bill has for once come up with the money.

I reckon Martinez has gotten some sort of concession from the Board, something along the lines of "I proved to you all, with loans, that we were competitive & we almost made CL with those players. Back me now & we'll make that last hurdle to real European competition!"

Well, it helps me go to sleep with a smile on my face...

Think its more he didn't spend his budget in January. Didn't spend all of last years budget (negative spend). Things looking positive in cash terms for the club.

Means we can go toe to toe.

Manager deserves the credit. He's saved this money up and means we're very competive.
