just like liverpool produced tshirts and job applications for a league champions parade?

Which was the correct thing to do, the applications clearly stated "IF" they win. It's called planning ahead. Every club with the potential to win something has things ready on standby.

Even Hull would have.

Sage council my friend, but I am unsure of how it helps us here.

And that goes back to the very point I have been trying to make.

The bar has been set in respect of the total wages Everton can pay.

Its not something that causes a problem at all in UEFAs version of FFP.The problem, if there is one, is within the PL version of FFP.

We aren't talking about breaking even or any loss being up to the figure set over a two then three year period its down to the fact that money spent on wages can only grow by a set amount or, if commercial income for instance grows, that growth can be added to the maximum sum that can be spent on wages.

We have no idea what Chelsea in respect of Lukaka nor Man City in respect of Barry ,charged the club nor how that sum was made up but already in the case of Barry he has signed a contract meaning his total wage cost will be have to be factored in and if Lukaka signs for the sort of fee that's being mooted then his wage costs & signing on fee will be significant.

I'm pretty comfortable. Evertons wage bill went up 5.3% last year. Aston Villa who pay more (have done for years and despite almost getting relegated) went down 8.8% in the same period. Fulham +10% and got relegated. Factor on inflation and we are fine. Tv money and other revenue went up more than wages. Much more. Don't think Kenwright would change that position now.

We've very much got costs under control. Despite this infuriating some on here. Its what puts EFC at an advantage to some clubs. £ per point. No one comes close to EFC.

Eveton have kept their powder dry whilst some spent last two seasons. Many on here going mad about that.

Infact its Martinez refusal to spend in January that means we are laughing now this window.

Think Everton will have budgeted adequately for all the signings.

Its commercial revenue we have to majorly increase. But this season our income will easily top £120million.

I think they may be better this year, but their (once again) new manager is still a bit unproven and Levy has a quick trigger. Poor start and he may be put down for another flavor of the month to come in. Spurs can be counted on for one thing - inconsistency.

We also have had an extra year in our new system, so theoretically should improve even if we do end up standing still in regards to new faces. I just don't think we will, I think we'll see 5+ new players (counting our former loans as new players) by the end of the window and at least one new signing before the start of the season (discounting Besic).

It's entirely plausible that we screw up this window and don't spend or get in what we need, I just think that a transfer window can only be properly postmortemed after it's complete.

We will not sign 5+ players.

Comments from Martinez says he considers 5 of the 6 or 7 to be the 8 youth players coming in.

We will sign 4 players maximum +/- 1 loan player.

Thats what our budget allows for. Plus we'd end up with too big a squad otherwise.

But they'll all be quality players

Then we're done.

Because we already signed the other two of the 7.

He's said we need two more before the start of the season. That would be 4. I'm supposing we'll get 1-2 after the season begins, but could be wrong.

There's one signing in it either way though.

There will be one or two more if/when after lukaku is finalised

May 8th: Martinez:

“The Europa League is an incredible competition, we embrace the challenge to play in Europe but we need the right signings to balance with the youth players."

“Right now I am disappointed that Ryan Ledson has gone away with England U17 because he deserved to make his debut this season. He was very close against Southampton. Ryan has got a fantastic future."

May 27th:

"I also have a few youngsters who will be given an opportunity in pre-season and depending on how they do they will fill some of those positions in the first-team squad. I think our youngsters next season will have a massive say in how good we are going to be.

"We know what we are going to get from the experienced players but every time you bring a player into the club there is always a margin of error in terms of how they will adapt."

"We have five young players whose programme we've been following closely since we set them out 12 months ago," he told Everton's official website.

"They've been out on loan and working in the first team environment and they've done that very well.

"We've got Tyias Browning, Luke Garbutt, John Lundstram, Chris Long and Matthew Kennedy. We've been trying to develop them and they deserve an opportunity.

"We want to see how they react in the first team, how close they are to being ready - like John Stones and Ross Barkley were last season.

"Last year, they [Stones and Barkley] did well in pre-season, showed really high standards and that they were ready so that's going to be the case at Everton."

There are lots of quotes going back 12 months. It'll be 5 youth + 5 signings one of which will be a loan. No outgoings unless he wants to upgrade an area.

Thats to balance the squad. A mixture of youth and players around them.

Thats what our budget allows.

You're second quote basically agrees with me, except you left off the +.

I can see us buying one or two more players after our strikercrisis is settled, either with Lukaku or someone else. But I can't see them being very expensive buys, but they don't have to be. Henen is £1.5M (almost done), Bahoui £1.5M (tops, no more), Besic is £4M. All good examples on cheap young players that can be of use to us.

With the exception being the Wigan bunch (McCarthy excluded) RM brought with him he has done well in the transfermarket, especially the loanmarket. Would be surprised if he didn't use that again and loan 1-3 more players in. Teams should be more interested in lending players out to us this season since we are in Europe. It would give their fringe players a chance to get european experience for free, and us more players ready for the bigger stages.
