I said signings. As in pay transfer fees.

Not different at all.
I think they may be better this year, but their (once again) new manager is still a bit unproven and Levy has a quick trigger. Poor start and he may be put down for another flavor of the month to come in. Spurs can be counted on for one thing - inconsistency.

We also have had an extra year in our new system, so theoretically should improve even if we do end up standing still in regards to new faces. I just don't think we will, I think we'll see 5+ new players (counting our former loans as new players) by the end of the window and at least one new signing before the start of the season (discounting Besic).

It's entirely plausible that we screw up this window and don't spend or get in what we need, I just think that a transfer window can only be properly postmortemed after it's complete.

If you think that there will be at least 5 total players here that were either not here last year, or are now permanent whilst on loan last year then you agree with my statement.

I only said sign about one player. I said we will see new players.

May 8th: Martinez:

“The Europa League is an incredible competition, we embrace the challenge to play in Europe but we need the right signings to balance with the youth players."

“Right now I am disappointed that Ryan Ledson has gone away with England U17 because he deserved to make his debut this season. He was very close against Southampton. Ryan has got a fantastic future."

May 27th:

"I also have a few youngsters who will be given an opportunity in pre-season and depending on how they do they will fill some of those positions in the first-team squad. I think our youngsters next season will have a massive say in how good we are going to be.

"We know what we are going to get from the experienced players but every time you bring a player into the club there is always a margin of error in terms of how they will adapt."

July 14th:

"We have five young players whose programme we've been following closely since we set them out 12 months ago," he told Everton's official website.

"They've been out on loan and working in the first team environment and they've done that very well.

"We've got Tyias Browning, Luke Garbutt, John Lundstram, Chris Long and Matthew Kennedy. We've been trying to develop them and they deserve an opportunity.

"We want to see how they react in the first team, how close they are to being ready - like John Stones and Ross Barkley were last season.

"Last year, they [Stones and Barkley] did well in pre-season, showed really high standards and that they were ready so that's going to be the case at Everton."

There are lots of quotes going back 12 months. It'll be 5 youth + 5 signings one of which will be a loan. No outgoings unless he wants to upgrade an area.

Thats to balance the squad. A mixture of youth and players around them.

Thats what our budget allows.

So thats 2 in (barry, besic) 2 before the season starts and maybe one more close to deadline day. Id say we are pretty much on track

I'm pretty comfortable. Evertons wage bill went up 5.3% last year. Aston Villa who pay more (have done for years and despite almost getting relegated) went down 8.8% in the same period. Fulham +10% and got relegated. Factor on inflation and we are fine. Tv money and other revenue went up more than wages. Much more. Don't think Kenwright would change that position now.

We've very much got costs under control. Despite this infuriating some on here. Its what puts EFC at an advantage to some clubs. £ per point. No one comes close to EFC.

Eveton have kept their powder dry whilst some spent last two seasons. Many on here going mad about that.

Infact its Martinez refusal to spend in January that means we are laughing now this window.

Think Everton will have budgeted adequately for all the signings.

Its commercial revenue we have to majorly increase. But this season our income will easily top £120million.

I don't think there is any argument about the points to £ return.

When you say that wages went up by 5.3% last year which year are you talking about?

In 2011/12 wages were about £63 million from a turnover of £81 million meaning wages accounted for 78% of turnover.

In 2012/13 (the last year for which figures have been released ) wages were just over £63 million from a turnover of £86 million meaning wages accounted for about 73% of turnover.

We don't know what 2013/14 wages are but what we do know is that TV income went up by £33.2 million alas none of this money is available to support any increase in wages over £67 million that would have to come from increased commercial income or improved gate receipts
