May 8th: Martinez:

“The Europa League is an incredible competition, we embrace the challenge to play in Europe but we need the right signings to balance with the youth players."

“Right now I am disappointed that Ryan Ledson has gone away with England U17 because he deserved to make his debut this season. He was very close against Southampton. Ryan has got a fantastic future."

May 27th:

"I also have a few youngsters who will be given an opportunity in pre-season and depending on how they do they will fill some of those positions in the first-team squad. I think our youngsters next season will have a massive say in how good we are going to be.

"We know what we are going to get from the experienced players but every time you bring a player into the club there is always a margin of error in terms of how they will adapt."

July 14th:

"We have five young players whose programme we've been following closely since we set them out 12 months ago," he told Everton's official website.

"They've been out on loan and working in the first team environment and they've done that very well.

"We've got Tyias Browning, Luke Garbutt, John Lundstram, Chris Long and Matthew Kennedy. We've been trying to develop them and they deserve an opportunity.

"We want to see how they react in the first team, how close they are to being ready - like John Stones and Ross Barkley were last season.

"Last year, they [Stones and Barkley] did well in pre-season, showed really high standards and that they were ready so that's going to be the case at Everton."

There are lots of quotes going back 12 months. It'll be 5 youth + 5 signings one of which will be a loan. No outgoings unless he wants to upgrade an area.

Thats to balance the squad. A mixture of youth and players around them.

Thats what our budget allows.

:O

YOU'RE MATT DAMON!

I don't think there is any argument about the points to £ return.

When you say that wages went up by 5.3% last year which year are you talking about?

In 2011/12 wages were about £63 million from a turnover of £81 million meaning wages accounted for 78% of turnover.

In 2012/13 (the last year for which figures have been released ) wages were just over £63 million from a turnover of £86 million meaning wages accounted for about 73% of turnover.

We don't know what 2013/14 wages are but what we do know is that TV income went up by £33.2 million alas none of this money is available to support any increase in wages over £67 million that would have to come from increased commercial income or improved gate receipts

They must be expecting some money from somewhere since the Chang increase of 1.3million a season isn't going to cut it.

Unless they are thinking Umbro will give them more money and that was why that changed.

No figures there but they must be expecting some money from somewhere.
"Everton have given no details of the financial aspects of the agreement but the ECHO understands it to be a club record for a deal of its type."

Bill Kenwright's secret weapon this summer?

UMBRO.

Or more specifically. These guys:

Looking at comments coming from Roberto, beginning to doubt if Rom will be coming although I guess he is top of the shopping list. Roberto has been quoted as saying we need a couple more players, one of which has to be a no.9. getting tight this is.

Actually think he said something along the line he wanted a striker (lukaku) before the start of the season and 2 other attackers, 1 of which had to be a striker... Or you could actually be right in that we'll onlyw bring a striker and another player.

Also the Premier League restriction applies to professional contracted players.

The Everton accounts relate to Employees (this includes coaches and other staff).

Its possible under FFP and the Premier League rules to write off youth + community expenditure.

Man City pay £10million a season in their accounts on this. Everton don't break this up in our accounts to date.

But if our figures are including this into it we could actually be right on the £54m limit any and under no pressure.

I suspect that is what is going on here. No proof however.

Its funny however. We don't seem under any pressure.

The waiting for Rom could put us in a very tricky situation, if he or Chelsea say no, not much time to find a striker apart from some semi useless prick rather than a good bit of quality. LIverpool have backed out of the deal for Remy, word is something to do with his medical so you can forget him as well.
