It was widely reported earlier in the summer that the clubs had held talks and that the result had left Everton positive that a deal could be done.
Also he is worth what the market dictates, what other offers do they have? He only has two years on his contract and it is reported that he won't sign a new one. We are not a direct title or CL rival so selling to us is preferable to selling to some other clubs. They will also be keen to keep us onside to aid any future attempts they may wish to make for our young English players.

They wouldn't. It's just that it seems the 30 euro fee was first reported by european sources who deal in that currency and the british papers then saw that figure and failed to convert it into pounds
