Well he's repeated "That IS the asking price" re Lukaku several times now..

If that was the asking price then we'd not be speaking about it now. As the conversation between the clubs would have been brief and final if they'd demanded £30m and everyting points to it being an ongoing dialogue, so I'm caling BS on Lipton.

This ^. Or the whole saga is a smokescreen and Martinez will surprise us with a left of field signing or loan. Maybe we have given up on Lukaku and this is a Chelsea ploy to get us, or someone else, interested.

Why would Everton and Chelsea be doing deals in euros?

They're not. Some European journos cited the figure in euros last night, the same way UK journos would talk about La Liga or Serie A deals in pounds. The Mirror et al just seem to have seen "30M" and run with it sans basic fact-checking.

Lukaku's not worth anywhere near £30m. £20m absolute tops. Even that looks generous if Origo or whatever his name is, who looked a carbon copy of Lukaku during the WC (good and bad points), is only £10m worth.

Chelsea paid far too much for him originally.

They probably aren't but FFP (sorry back to that again) uses the Euro as the base currency and it may well be to a clubs advantage to prove the exact value of such a significant transaction.
