It definitely can't harm our chances. It probably depends on if Rom has the same hunger for 1st team footy as he did when a world cup place was up for grabs. You'd have to say if Costa agrees terms then he'll be the first choice striker at Chelsea. Lukaku won't get much footy even if they sell Torres, Eto and Demba Ba.

Given Costa's recent injuries - where he has been rushed back without much recovery time potentially causing more longlasting issues - Lukaku might still get decent game time as Chelsea 2nd striker.

They might be filthy rich but I doubt even Chelsea would spend £32m on a player with potential long lasting injuries. Torres has turned down Inter as he wants to stay at Chelsea, his contract goes to June 2016. I think Lukaku will definitely leave now, unless Mourinhio really sells it to Rom that he's an important part of his plans. That's not easy when you've just bought a new star striker & the clubs record signing is still hanging around.

i wouldn't say it's too wild to suggest chelsea might buy costa AND mandzukic. you look at city's 4 strikers and they're well ahead of chelsea's options. they could very well accept that lukaku doesn't want to play 2nd fiddle and sell him and bring in those two along with torres.

i believe it's pretty certain lukaku will get better offers than what we can offer though sadly.

Costa had a buyout clause. Atletico couldn't do anything to stop Costa from going to Chelsea.
