They probably still would have given £20mil+ price. There was no money like that readily available and in your first season as Everton manager you wouldn't want a potential 20Mil mistake if things didn't work out. So I think the way things panned out was for the best in everyone's interests.....

Pretty much, Chelsea paid a total of 17 mil for Lukaku, so it was only ever gonna be a bid in the region of 20 mil to even get Chelsea to listen.
