I was a little worried that he just saw us as a platform to develop and that, if he did play to his potential, he would be off but it really does sound like he has signed up to what bobby is trying to do. I still think that he will be off if we can't get champions league but I have a lot of confidence that we can

I remember being so gutted just after he slotted at Hull, because that was a classy goal and I thought I'd never see it again in our blue shirt.

The cheeky git knew all along though, didn't he?

Even if he does just see us as a platform he will still be here for 3 years. Anything beyond that i am surprised by any player let alone Lukaku in this day and age where loyalty is a word of the past. The main thing is the here and now and seeing if he can help js win a trophy or two and have a good crack at the top 4. The silence from my Kopite mates tells me all i need to know about how gutted they are that we have actually spent serious money on a quality player. A couple of more signings and we will do some serious damage this season i reckon.

At the end of the season, I gave this less than 10% of happening.
I was kidding myself that we had a shot at signing him. I suppose that was to protect myself from considering the inevitability that he wouldn't be coming back and we'd really struggle to replace his goals.

Then he did sign and my brain has had a bit of a malfunction. I'm very happy we've got him, but it somehow feels like I knew this was going to happen so I shouldn't be pleasantly surprised.

Also mixed into that, I guess, is the feeling that he's not really a new signing, like Barry isn't really a new signing. We've splurged £30 million to have two players we already had, effectively. Not that I'd be without them at that cost, you understand. It's just a strange feeling all round.

Thats Baines though, he's the man isn't he and one of a kind who likes to get Mr Whippys for all the lads. Name me another Everton player who would have stood there like Baines and waited for 14 99's. I love the way he's reviewing his options as well "erm yeah go on i will have a flake and sprinkles on it then mate".
He's the dream dinner partner for Hibbert, who would obviously be queueing up for fish and chips.
