I'd personally say it's what we had today.

It's also not the fact who he's playing with, it's more "where" - when central he provides a bigger threat. Drags defenders out, they have to man-mark him and Naismith and it just gets too much for defenders. Plus he can defo play on the shoulder of defenders cuz he's pacy and strong, so that's a + in his favour.
In general agree with you that he's better central although think probably his best performance for us came when he played on the wing vs Arsenal last season - that might just be because he played against Monreal at LB though.

Complete performance from him. Held the ball up, created chances, and would've scored if it weren't for an incorrect call. He played an intelligent and mature game, if I didn't know better I would say he was a lot older than 21. He is one of our most key players and will only become more important to us as he gets older. Terrifying to think how good he will be in the years to come.

Looks fit now and all round games has improved. So wanted him to get his goal last night. Needs to start up top at thr weekend again and let him build momentum. Hes gonna go on a run now of scoring

Think he should of come off near the end last night, I dont know if Martinez's plan is to not start him V Sunderland though now.

Naismith and Lukaku linked up well tonight imo, it is usually Lukaku setting up Naismith at the expense of his own game but felt there was a bit more balance tonight.

I think that was the same pattern again last night. I didn't see much balance there in the way you say.

There is no question Lukaku prefers playing as a lone striker with the responsibility to get the goals. Lukaku is turning out at this stage to be the most expensive secondary forward in PL history.

His 2 "goals" highlighted what a player he is for me, why we insist on refusing to play to his strengths I dont know.
I think the opposition know what Lukaku's strengths are and stop us utilizing him. I think a year or 2 working with Big Dunc will see a more rounded centre forward.

Agreed. Watching him celebrate his team mates goals was great but you could see in his eyes he was desperate to get one. The good thing is with the set up we had last night, the goals will flow. The old phrase you earn the right to play football was evident last night, the pressing was so effective.
