The whole team were terrible yesterday bar McCarthy. Martinez needs to stop playing people out of position, Ross can't play out wide and Eto'o isn't an attacking midfielder.

Looking forward to Mirallas and Oviedo being back, they are more creative wingers.
I'm not a big fan of Oviedo playing on the wing but he's definitely our best option at the moment. We need to spend. There was talk of Perisic who will probably play against us in the EL so he'll be an interesting one to watch.

in an ideal world he would even be first choice,he'd be a young player with alot of promise coming through..

i suppose berahino kinda screws up that argument, hmmmm

Rom looked better against Lille on Thursday and i do think he is performing 'ok', but not performing like a 28 million pound striker. He doesnt have to run up and down the pitch because thats Naismith's job, Rom just needs to take his chances thats all.

Playing better against Lille is relative to the awful displays he's had in League games. He certainly didn't play well against Lille.
As for JUST needing to take his chances, it's the only thing he is good at, so when he he is not doing that he offers nothing at all.

Still think he might come good, but on this season's displays he looks to be worth about 10% of his transfer fee.

If thats big Duncs work on him please let it stop now as he is not a natural centre forward in the bustling DF mould, his game is to play on the last defender and turn him with pace with the ball on the deck with players supporting him - Long useless punts to his head with no one near him yesterday were David Moyes tactics imo!
Eto was too far away from him and so slow!

Yeah me neither he's defo a better LB, but he gets forward and puts the ball into the box, I think that is what we need at the minute.

Yes he did.

Berahino had a summer break and doesn't play twice a week. Notice Barkley isn't really lighting it up either this season either. Both will adjust, but it might take a little while.

Tbh, he's not the only one undeperforming this year. Our build-up to the other goals is at such a slow pace via so many stations that when we finally get the ball to Rom or Eto'o, their box is swarmed with defenders and midfielders.

Tired on hearing the excuse about his age now. Its honestly no excuse. These are the basics in football which seperate a pro player, to semi-pro and amateur.

His errors are the basics and his age is no excuse. I can just about live with his poor control from time to time but what really riles me with him, is his movement (or lack of) in the box; his anticipation and his inability to create a yard of space off the ball in the box. Unless a cross is inch perfect, he wont move.

You cant tell me that playing all these years as a striker, for top clubs that he hasnt been taught this. Its basic knowledge this... watch all the top top strikers in world football and its their movement off the ball that does the most damage. Really gets under my skin watching him standing around.

It could be said there isnt any through balls for him to latch onto because he doesnt give an option for one. Sammy played one in for Seamus yesterday because he GAVE the option, he made the run into space behind the backline.

Anyone think he looks more "bulky" and not as lean this season?

Agree completely with the poster saying martinez is playing moyes style tactics with him it's like watching us pumping it up to felli to try flick it on

Don't think he's bulky so much as unbalanced.I remember reading years ago that Emanuel Stewart spent months in the gym sorting out Lennox Lewis's balance issues because of his big feet.Maybe Roms size 13s are working against him.
