Lukaku

I have some difficulty reconciling Lukaku now with the guy who terrorised WHU on his debut. In fact with his very first touch as sub he turned a WH marker in the middle of the park and launched a great ball out wide. And who can forget his determination to get on the end of Mirallas's cross to head his goal. And I recently came across two goals he scored for Belgium in early 2014 in which he beat a number of defenders in both instances and ran half the length of the pitch with the ball before slotting past the keeper. Brilliant.

You are spot on mate; he was so good in that debut game. I do recall though, he knocked himself out scoring that header, and he is perhaps now a little gun shy re banging his head again as he is pretty poor in the air these days.

Crap version of Anichebe.

A bit harsh.

If Rom had Victor's physical presence and back to goal prowess to go with his goal scoring ability he would be a much greater asset to us.

Ditto if Victor could finish like Rom he would be leading the line for us and Rom would still be warming the bench at Chelsea.

He's going through a bit of a rough time but a)strikers do that and b)he didn't play well in the WC so his confidence has probably been effected.

We need to start playing to his strengths. He never plays well with another "striker" alongside him be it Eto'o or Naismith. We need Barkley or even someone like Osman there.

Absolutely dreadful yesterday

He has, however, got much better lately. Think his performances against Lille, Swansea, Villa and Burnley (with one horrendous mistake aside) were much improved on his early season showings.

Can't defend yesterday though. Pathetic

He is a great player I don't think there's any doubting that, however he was shockingly bad against sunderland couple of people next to me at the match mentioned he might be carrying a knock and I feel I must agree. It was either that or a severe lack of interest hopefully it was just a slight knock which will of cleared up by the end of the international break.

The whole team were terrible yesterday bar McCarthy. Martinez needs to stop playing people out of position, Ross can't play out wide and Eto'o isn't an attacking midfielder.

Looking forward to Mirallas and Oviedo being back, they are more creative wingers.

Martinez messed up in summer and is trying to get by playing players out of position.
Rom has gone backwards for some reason.
He will be quality but like barkley not playing well at the moment

Rom looked better against Lille on Thursday and i do think he is performing 'ok', but not performing like a 28 million pound striker. He doesnt have to run up and down the pitch because thats Naismith's job, Rom just needs to take his chances thats all.
