Just read through this thread regarding comments on Rom & Kone , the fors & against the whys and why nots the ifs and the buts and I've come to the conclusion on that basic FFS do we need a striker..

I appreciate he is probably isolated quite a lot by our current system. But he hasn't looked fit since the start of the season, why does he look like he's puffing after one burst? Why is his shirt dripping with sweat after twenty minutes of lumbering around? Why does he lack that burst of pace of last season? How come a midfielder like Can can bully him playing as a makeshift centre half? The injury, the world cup and a lack of a proper preseason are probably partly to blame for this...He has a lot of talent and potential and the physical tools plus a knack of scoring goals(as shown by the West Ham games), but he needs to buck his ideas up, sometimes his attitude is suspect rather like Mirrallas but not quite as bad he seems to think he's made it already when he actually has a long way to go. He needs to work on the areas of his game that are currently frailties, his touch and hold up play are appalling at times. A rest out of the team and or Barkley behind him when he returns may be of benefit, but our options as a replacement are limited? Maybe try Naismith up there for a few weeks with Barkley/Kone/Lennon rotating in support?

Perhaps because he played almost every minute last season except when he had an ankle injury, then went to a world cup, then has played almost every minute of our games this season?

sometimes exhaustion can be cumulative. He had more energy (and his hold up play was better) when he was rested a little a few weeks ago. Doubt any strikers in the league have played as many minutes over the past 18 months as Rom.

True you could be right about burnout having played game in game out since he was playing in Belgium. However, whatever the reason, physically this year he really doesn't look the same player to me and is easily bullied, in that context ten goals is quite good going...Which highlights our paucity of other options, Kone who is coming back from a long term injuriy and Naismith who isn't really a proper frontman who can play up front on his own. As well as getting his wages and attitude off the books, Eto'o's departure probably related to the fact that Martinez saw him as more of a number 10.

At the start of his time here at Everton we were forever hearing about how he wanted to improve his game and become one of the top strikers in the world.
Well, following his recent performances, somebody should give him the book with the rules of football in, so he can learn the offside law.
Very frustrating for everyone.
