Lukaku

We should be encouraged by his last few games. He has been much improved in joining the play and, despite poor finishing today, was unlucky at Chelsea and scored a hat trick

Well, if he didn't score the second goal (which he didn't), does that mean he gets the assist? Then he had two assists today?

Still loads of potential in my eyes. We'd never been able to afford the finished article at Lukaku's level. Should learn to keep his gob shut though. Be very happy you're at a club of Everton's level and start fullfilling your potential there first. Atm, he's not even close to the quality of strikers like at Chelsea and City.

That's gone down as 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 2 games.

There's more to it than stats of course, but I think it provides some balance with all the overzealous knee-jerking. He, even at the level he's playing at now, is comfortably better than any other Everton striker in the past 15 years. The fact that he has so much room for improvement is only because of how good he can be, but sadly his potential is all we can see, and what we judge him on.

He's 21. He makes mistakes, but he knows more than anyone. Check his post-match interview mid-week -- looked pissed off at himself for missing those chances, despite bagging a hat-trick. He didn't ask to be sold for £28m, so can we please stop holding that over his head and stop treating him like he's a 30 year old. Give him some breathing space, have some patience, and appreciate the fact that, even when he's having a bad game, we have a striker that can still do damage.

Excellent post mate.

He got chances today and didn't take them but he kept going and was stronger as the game went on.

We need to back the lad not give him abuse. He's a goal scorer who scores regularly and wants to improve his game, let's get behind him!
