why is it always down to 'lack of passion' when someone has a bad game ?

whatever happened to just having a bad game because you were off form ?

lukaku tried, he just had a poor game.

His attitude is superb. His runs off the ball are excellent. He most certainly puts a shift in. He's just never going to be seen buzzing around the place like Lennon as it's just not how he's built. When you combine that with him being ambitious and having cost a high fee, he's the type of player that's going to be scapegoated at every opportunity.

Didn't have his best game but don't think it was due to effort. He drifted out wide a lot to be involved in the play. Think he plays better when he has someone closer to him like when mirallas came on.

He doesn't make intelligent runs and he doesn't bring other players into play. He'll make a stupid run into a defenders space then throw his hands up when a teammate won't make the pass to feet due to the position he's taken up.

It isn't scapegoating - in the league he has legit had, what, five decent games? Even most of the games he's scored in he's offered nothing else.

We need to see signs he's learning and improving in his role by now - I'm seeing nothing of the sort.

League he has been awful, Europe he has been exceptional.

Problem is there's 38 games in the league, so he's been by and large awful.

As have the rest of the squad. They can't handle teams that sit back with men behind the ball. In Europe, for some reason, teams seemed intent on not doing their homework on us and played into our hands. As a result, we were actually capable of breaking them down and Lukaku got actual service. It's not Lukaku's job to break teams down for us, he's there to finish chances. Saying he's solely responsible for ruining all our attacks doesn't explain his European form. That's because it's nowhere near our main problem.

Are you serious? That's arguably his best quality alongside his finishing. He could have had two tap ins inside 45 mins against United just last week if Coleman wasn't a terrible crosser of a ball as he'd lost his man and timed his run. When we've counterattacked well this season or had any space going forward at all he's scored for fun precisely because of his good runs. In games like today when he has to spend half the game watching us mess around just outside the box or Coleman shanking another cross into touch he has virtually no space to work with. The way we're playing currently, I can't think of any strikers that would look particularly good playing our lone role.

I want to see him be able to create that extra half a yard in the box for a turn and shot when he receives the ball with his back to goal.

Might have had a goal today had he done this
