Lukaku's Everton Frustration

The one thing he could be doing is getting a move asap before stadium announcement.

He has wanted to leave all along and is using the board as the reason.

Maybe of course.

Last week he was 99.99% certain of signing the contract.
The players he's on about (whoever they were), were in transfer windows months ago.
It's not related to that?

To me, he doesn't want to be here.

Simple as.

No amount of platitudes will convince me and I suspect the vast majority of posters on here any differently.

Blaming the board us just an easy way out.

If he had came out with that when the season was over and moved on I could have happily lived with never seeing him play for Everton again.

Now I have to look at him taking a big wage from my team another four or five times between now and May.

And I am sure he will be as de-motivated about EFC as I am about him.

Do you honestly think if we signed 3 big name players in Jan or the summer he would still want off? Dont think so.

Who's the player? The Gabbiadini lid at Southampton? It's certainly isn't Perez or Sissoko.

He is playing great for us, having his best season ever. Whats the worst that can happen here... we offer him a better contract, someone else sees him in play and offers him an even better contract. He is in it for the money and I don't begrudge him that at all. He wasn't born in wavertree, he is not a blue, he's just a player we have right now who is playing great for us. Why are we so obsessed about the future and loyalty in a game that does not reward it. Que Sera.....

I don't think it's as simple as that. When do you ever see players who want to force a transfer referencing the 30-50 year old history of the club and saying that they want to achieve the same kind of success?

He rightly wants to play at the highest level. If he's showing frustration at the board it's not unreasonable to infer that he wants to be playing at the highest level at Everton. If he feels the club don't match those ambitions it's natural he'd be inclined to move on. He's been here for four seasons come May and has been our best striker in a generation over that period. Not many top class players have stayed at a non-CL club for that long over the past decade.**

**The obvious counter to this is that nobody has been in for him over that period. Possibly the case, but he has established himself as one of the best forwards anywhere this season and he's currently playing for the seventh best team in the league, which is below his level. I'd prefer him to be complaining about ambition and missed opportunities than the much more common practice of refusing to train or play and making a transfer request.

The only thing is City signed Robinson in 2008 and won the FA Cup in 2011. It's not lIke it was 1 year and we've shown progress in our first season spending. This is all to gain sympathy

They spent £133m that year. £125m the following year. It's the ambition he's talking about, so far we've spent £70m this year and recouped £50m. Well within his rights to question our lack of ambition in the transfer market.

Yes I do.

He has never looked happy here IMO and has always been angling for a move.

Why would he worry about us signing 3 big names when he can, apparently, join a club which already has 11 big names on the books?

That's what I think anyway :(
