Point is the manager shouldnt be scared at playing players on form instead of reputation, both oviedo and garbutt dont get a look in even when there performing better than baines. Would probably give baines a boot up the ass if he knew he was droppable

He's got a long way to go but he's only young and has plenty of time on his side, looks a better player than Luke Shaw at the moment mind.

Shaw is one of the most overrated players in this league, id have Garbutt over him all day long

Gets caught out a bit and plays in the wrong areas but very very promising.

Him and Barry have been out worst players since November. So he does need to be. Plenty of better left backs in the league, 2 at our club.

Yeah, Baines has been worse than Howard, Barkley, Distin, Coleman etc. Go search for a clue.

Yeah wouldn't argue there tbh. Theres been times it wouldn't hurt to try the more attacking LB especially if we decide not to play wingers.

If he was gonna sign, he'd have done so by now....

There's a shortage of good left backs in the league, so Garbutt will have plenty of interest else where and would get more opportunities to play elsewhere....

Ideally I'd like to see him sign a 5 year deal with us, and then go out in loan next season to another Prem league team.....

Like Mirallas I reckon he will wait to see if we win the Europa League.

With the extra European games he will probably get games like he has done this year however if we don't have Europe I can't see him staying unless either Oviedo or very unlikely Baines leaves and I can't see that happening unless Garbutt signs.

Why not play both? Baines in the middle of the park, popping balls left and right.

...not for me. If you have the best LB in the land why play him elsewhere to accommodate somebody else. If he slots into CM then we would need to drop a Barkley, MCarthy or Naismith. Unfortunately we don't play 12.

I think Everton will regret letting Garbutt go. Baines looks a player on the slide, and has done for some time now.

Barkley and Distin have a Barely played. Coleman hasn't covered himself in glory but he hasn't been as bad as Baines. I'll give you Howard. I've got a clue, I don't have a Baines fetish like half of you on here that blindly fap over performances that are, quite frankly, a shambles. He's at fault for an enormous amount of goals we concede and offers nowhere near as much of a threat going forward as the other two.
