Garbutt is unfortunate to be behind both Baines and Oviedo. I don't see how the manager can put him in the team ahead of either of them when they are fit.
If Oviedo were tempted to leave in the summer(and that just may happen) then maybe Garbutt may see a future for himself here. I don't see him going to another top club and staying as a number two. I think he may go to a lesser club and start to play regularly and build a career for himself...it's really what he should do.

Quite honestly it weakens the team when Baines is out and Garbutt is in...in time that may change, but I am not certain he will ever reach the heights that Baines has.

Is nothing going to be done against this????

Hes basically begging him to sign for the vermin.

Future Captain material David.

He's a left back in a squad where they're falling out of the cupboards. If he was a RB and pushing Coleman for a starting place you'd be a bit concerned. This feller's still fighting off Oviedo to be Baines' deputy.

Everton paid over the odds to get him here in the first place to give him a chance. Now the rat wont sign a contract so the club can get decent money for him. I really dont want a mercenary character like that in our team.

Garbutt's dilemma is that there's no club with greater status than Everton who'd pick him up and play him as a starter. The lad is still potential. That's all. He's a good athlete but his defensive work needs an awful lot of coaching.

He's had nearly as many appearances as Oviedo this season...more involved toward the end of it than Oviedo, so he cant be that frustrated or view himself as third choice. He's at a very good club and if he had any sense he'd get a contract signed asap. If he leaves I'd shrug my shoulders. It's his loss not ours. We're sorted in that position if need be.

He wouldn't be first choice at any club in the Prem either. So it's more of a choice of what bench he'd like to warm

But Baines cannot go on for how long? You tell me how many years do you think are left in his locker? Now 30 years old, seriously shouldn't the club being lining up a replacement.

Depends on highly you rate him. Personally think he is easily good enough to start for quite a lot of PL teams, his free kicks alone would be valuable especially for a team that relied a lot on set pieces.

His defensive positioning needs work but the best chance for him to develop that is to play regularly. Despite it he did well against De Bruyne and Perisic away at Wolfsburg and they are both very good players.

For me he should be first choice LB. Build for the future.

Robles

Coleman Jagielka Stones Garbutt

Besic Mccarthy

Lennon Barkley Mirallas

Lukaku

Providing we kept lennon and mirallas and brought no one else in that's the team I would like to see. A young side that can grow and develop together alongside 3-4 older heads who bring experience to the side, with a strong bench with the likes of Baines, Barry and Mcgeady on it.
