So did this poseur sign or not? Contract ran out didn't it?

And who's fault is that?

It's Moyes' fault for buying Oviedo. Garbutt should have been 2nd choice left back.

I'm not having a go at Bryan. I just think that precious (at the time) £3.5 million could have been spent better on other positions.

Oviedo was signed as a utility player for our left hand side, Garbutt was nowhere near ready in 2012 when we signed Oviedo which is why he was on loan at sides like Colchester and Cheltenham.

Right. Thanks for that.

Meanwhile if somebody can explain to me how making lots of appearances for England youth sides means anything i'm all ears.

You do know that Slippy G and Lampard made loads of appearances for the England youth set-up?

It's by no means a guarantee, but you're gonna look daft when this lid walks into another contract, totally un-Jose Baxter style.

You know why? Because he's a Premier League left back - vault me.

Be interesting if we let him go and get Ings in in similar fashion.

I'd be quite happy to see that happen given our strength at leftback and our weaknesses up front.

So is Gary Naismith.

Offer him a good contract and loan him to a lower prem team for the season to soften the wages. He isn't going to be sold to a team higher than us, but he needs career progression. Win-win for all parties.

When he comes back Baines will be 32 and probably moving to a less mobile position. Garbutt will also be absolutely boss with a year of Prem experience under his belt, fact.

Hes been offered a contract, he will either sign it and trust in his ability to push Baines out in a season or 2, playing games when Baines is injured and League Cup or he will sign for a team where he gets a decent wage and plays every week.

Its up to him really, he seems a decent player, would prefer him to stick around, but if he doesnt, good luck to him in the future.

Oh right so representing your country at every level of your development i.e. Playing at the highest level possible isn't a good indicator that you're a decent larker like?

And Jack Rodwell is the proof? Would that be the Jack Rodwell signed by the richest club in the country for £15m btw?

Gotcha

Is Jack Rodwell a top class midfielder?
