I think it is absolutely Martinez fault. It's all well and good offering him all these promises, but when he isn't even getting all that much game time when he should be, and when he's dropped after putting in a great performance, for a half fit baines.. why would you blame him to leave?

Everything from game time, and the soundbites that martinez has given out in the press, it's his mess.

Absolute tosh.

Baines is an outstanding left back, the best in the country. Remember Leighton turned down Utd's advances last year; Bobby obviously values loyalty which I think is absolutely right. There has been perhaps one occasion where Luke should have come in but we won that day and Hibbo was vital to that win.

All Bobby has done in the press is praise him, talk about his development and his willing that he stays at the club and signs a deal.

Alot on here are blinded by the fact that he is a young player who has a fantastic left foot. He has LOADS of development to concentrate on; positioning is awful at times. Alot also forget a) how young Bryan is and b) how able Bryan is as a left back. He is great and imho better right now than Luke.

Luke has been out in Manchester on a number of occasions the night before a game as well; something Martinez requests the first team squad dont do.

Luke wants game time yes; but so do 20 other players. Loyalty is a two way thing here; Everton can promise him the world but Luke has to show willingness too. Why should Bobby play him today when he still hasnt signed his deal? Playing Galloway makes more sense as he is definitely with us today. Playing Luke today wont suddenly get him to sign a deal.

The contract is agreed in terms of money; its significant. But Luke is delaying it for whatever reason. He has recently switched agent so is probably being advised to keep his powder dry.

Everyone laughed at me last year when I said he would sign for Liverpool, common knowledge in Harrogate from family members that's what he and his agent were upto.

Get the impression Martinez doesnt like him (happens in football) once Baines was out he was talking about wishing he could call upon Oviedo.
We dont know,Garbutt could be acting a tit over the contract.Maybe the boss is resigned to looking elsewhere....Cant blame him for that.

FFS, stop talking sense mate, or I'm going to neg you to within an inch of your life.

And then he got dropped for a half fit baines right after playing fantastically, lad's a 21 year old physically fit lad, theres no way he couldn't play 2 games a week.

If martinez rates oviedo and baines ahead of him, then why should he stay? if other clubs recognise his talent and want him, why should he wait around to live off false promises that everton give out.
Even if he had been able to cope with the two games that would only have given him at max a handful of extra games this season, not enough to make a big difference to his choice.

Not saying that I think Garbutt should stay, he clearly needs playing time and he might not want to go out on loan again. But don't think that means we are giving him false promises, handling him wrong or treating him badly. Just one of those things.

I'm not blinded by everything, i agree with you on most points.

But you as well as i know everton football club no matter how friendly they seem are the club of twisting, and lies. They lie about nearly every situation and put soundbites on there to twist it so they can look good.

They've done it as recently as that Beardwood fella. There are no other people other than 'yes men' at everton football club, And the manager is no different.

You clearly won't change your mind on Garbutt but the lad has deserved more games than he's played, such as today.

If the lad want's game time and everton are giving him the false promises they have given loads of players, then you literally cannot blame him for not wanting to sign that deal.

We'll have to agree to disagree LL!

i think the whole situation with him has been a mess.
