This 1 is goin to bite us massively on the arse

He'll start performing as soon as he's gettin played. Aren't too many good LBs about - Bertrand got into the team of the year and this lad is miles more talented

No, he hasn't given his all. He's been training to become a professional player - something he was given a detailed two year plan by the manager to achieve - and the objective is realized now as he's been in the first team. Now after those two years are up he's run down his contract intentionally (even though a contract improvement is there to sign) in order to go elsewhere.

You might rationalize that as maximizing his market potential (or whatever other terminology Thatcher's children use), but I see it for what it is: a massive kick in the bollocks from a Judas.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned thinking that this feller owes us some loyalty...or something.

Anyway, I'm not arsed about this lad signing now. He's shown enough lack of class to demonstrate he does not have the right stuff for Everton. I just hope he\'s off asap after July 1st and the club gets a few million to cover the losses on him and put toward a player who does want to play for Everton.
No such thing as loyalty in today's era!

Yes, as he did this season.

Dont give this feller the benefit of the doubt: he'd get his chance to play, he knows it and everyone else does. Playing time is just a smokescreen he and his agent are using to walk away from Everton for free and a big signing on fee plus more wages elsewhere.

Why so much slack is afforded to this stab in the back merchant I have no idea.

No

He's very likely going to end up on less money at a less prestigious club because he wants to actually knuckle down and play every week

Yet despite all that, he gets villified

Madness
He's doing it he right thing for his career and we can't blame him for that.

Let's say he does go to a "big club" to still sit on the bench and get more money then I'll be just as angry as everyone else but if he goes to a club that'll play him everyweek and give him valuable minutes then I'll still be unhappy we've lost such a promising young talent but I won't be unhappy at him, he's making the right choice for his career.

Because he could have regular football at EFC in the forseeable future.

He could always try proving himself to Martinez that he's worthy of displacing Baines. Saying that, perhaps that's half the reason he's going, because Martinez has given him no encouragement/assurance that he really could displace Baines. Or he could simply be running away cos he's not up for the fight. I dunno.

Exactly

If he takes a comparible kings ransom to sit on Man City's bench, then ALL of us will be naffed off at him

But aside from that, I can't have a go at the lad

He wants to play. Fair enough

Would be a massive shame to see him leave, as I think he's talented, but I can't hold it against him on a personal level or reserve any bile for him

Him and the club just have different ideas of what his role should be, hence why he's likely going somewhere else

The hate club for him just baffles me really and I don't think I'll ever comprehend it

Just seems a very strange thing to have a go at the player for, especially considering he's likely not going anywhere better than us
