They watched him in under 21's and realised he aint all that.

No manager should or I don't think would judge a player by international appearances, christ alive, that a benitez/houllier trait right there and best reserved for those happy clappers over the park....... Diouf, dio, Bruno cherou etc etc.......

bournemouth signing tyrone mings for £8m, no point garbutt going there to sit on the bench.

Yes, and they are hardly going to fork out for some of his wages either now. So we'll have to see what happens.

But of course he questioned The One Who Shall Not Be Questioned once and is therefore crap and should really be playing in the Conference.

Hi Luke.

I'm glad your signing on again. Some people will say some pretty stupid things on here trying to look awesome. I don't know why they'd think untoward to a player who has agreed to commit to the club they love, but in the words of Votaire, I may not agree with their opinion but I'll fight to the death to defend their right to express it. Or something like that.

I think you have a great future ahead of you, and a season on loan in the Premiership will teach you a great deal about yourself.

The way you have handled yourself in the lead up to a new contact has been impeccable, and you have done well to not go into this without thinking the whole thing through properly at a crucial time in your career.

You are lucky enough and young enough to have a World Class player near the end of his run to learn from and ultimately to supercede. Think about Brett Kimmorley, a fantastic half back who always had Joey Johns in front of him, or Stuart McGill, who was always second fiddle to the mighty Shane Warne.

Both were superstars with Legends ahead of them, when in another era they'd walk into the team.

So Head down mate, bum up. You have a legend to ultimately learn from, then mercilessly retire.

I never thought I'd see a post on GOT that mentions Kimmorley, Johns, MacGill and Warney...... but so amazingly on point!!

Rooney went to united because of good display at Euro 2004, Martinez paid 4m for Besić because of good display at the world cup and we got Lukaku because he had bad tournament i think.

Lots of players are judged by the performances "on the big stage"

It's an U21 tournament. Not the World Cup.

Garbutt is fine. Let him get the experience good or bad. Either way he benefits.
